Our Story

In 2014, a few young bloods of 16 or 17 years old college students thought about how they could help people. They felt the need of society. They listened to their inner voice. They remind of the quotes of Martin Luther King, Jr, “Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agrees to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

Because of that necessity, they shaped their thought with a name called ‘আলোক যাত্রী - Alok Jatri (Light’s passenger)’ at that time. It is a charitable, non-profit organization and looking forward to a peaceful world by helping each other to join hands together to bring a better future of all.

The journey was not so smooth. As most of us were college students at that time, we don’t have that much money to help people. But there was no shortage of energy among us. We tried our best by raising fund at that time to help others. But, in the middle of that time, we were frustrated and most of us were step aside from this organization. It was a challenging time for all of us but we never forget the goal of this organization. Though our efforts were not at the top level in those years but we tried our best to help others from our side.

In 2020, this COVID-19 reminds us of our duties once again. This brings all of us under one roof. We feel more powerful than 6 years back with more people and well-wishers with us. We recall that volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart. We believe that money is a necessity but if you have saved a lot of heartaches for other folks, you are a pretty rich man indeed.
