Speakers at Ghashful’s 44th Annual General Meeting Call for Safe Food, Elderly Welfare, and Youth Skill Development II
The 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Ghashful convened virtually on Saturday, 9 May 2026, from the organization’s head office in Chandgaon, Chattogram, bringing together distinguished members, development professionals, auditors, and representatives from the Department of Social Services.
Dr. Monzur-Ul-Amin Chowdhury presided over the session. Opening the meeting, he extended warm greetings to participants and paid profound tribute to Ghashful Founder the late Shamsunnahar Rahman Poran, Chief Patron the late M. L. Rahman, and all colleagues and well-wishers whose contributions shaped the organization’s long development journey.
Chief Executive Officer Aftabur Rahman Jafree presented the proceedings and progress report of the 43rd AGM. General Secretary Mafruha Sultana highlighted the organization’s wide-ranging development initiatives undertaken during the current fiscal year. Deputy Director Sadia Rahman unveiled the Annual Report 2024–2025, while Deputy Director Maruful Karim Chowdhury presented the audited financial report for FY 2024–2025 and the proposed budget for FY 2025–2026.
The AGM approved the audited financial statements, annual budget, appointment of auditors, and several strategic resolutions aimed at strengthening institutional governance and expanding development outreach.
Speakers applauded Ghashful’s transformative contributions in safe agriculture, education, healthcare, environmental protection, social security, child development, and safe food production across urban and remote rural communities of Bangladesh. Participants particularly praised the organization’s drought-resilient agricultural initiatives in the Barind region of northern Bangladesh, where safe poultry farming, climate-resilient agriculture, and fruit cultivation have already generated visible and measurable socio-economic change.
A visual documentary showcasing these initiatives drew widespread appreciation from attendees.
In his keynote remarks, Dr. Monzur-Ul-Amin Chowdhury referenced the recent visit of a 40-member academic delegation comprising teachers and students from the University of Tokyo and Asian University for Women to the Ghashful Poran Rahman School and the Ghashful Bikash Centre at Sebok Colony. Quoting the organization’s founder, he stated, “Ghashful does not merely implement projects; it nurtures knowledge and learning.” He strongly urged the incoming Executive Committee to allocate a dedicated research budget to promote evidence-based development practices and innovation.
The discussion featured eminent personalities including former Cabinet Secretary Dr. Mohammad Abdul Karim, former Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University Professor Dr. Golam Rahman, former Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University Professor Dr. M. A. Sattar Mondal, educationist and former Joint Secretary Dr. Zaynab Begum, along with Parveen Mahmud FCA, Shib Narayan Kairy, K.A.M. Majedur Rahman, Zahida Ispahani, Jahanara Begum, Md. Wahiduzzaman, Kabita Barua, Shahana Begum, Samiha Salim, Yasmin Ahmed, Zareen Mahmud Hosein FCA, and Jhuma Rahman.
Representatives from the Department of Social Services and the audit firm Hussain Farhad & Co. also joined the meeting, including Md. Nasir Uddin from the Dhaka Social Services Office and FCA Md. Nazrul Islam, Director and Head of Quality Assurance at the audit firm.

Concluding the AGM, participants congratulated the newly formed committee and expressed strong optimism that, under its leadership, Ghashful would further expand its people-centered development initiatives, accelerate innovation, and elevate the living standards of marginalized communities across Bangladesh.
