In the modern world we have witnessed a gigantic revolution in the field of science and technology which has enabled man to harness the forces of nature; conquer distances and bring about a revolution in the methods of industrial and agricultural production. But environmental degradation has become a mother of great concern all over the world in recent years. Scientific development has not helped
in rating an environment which could be favorable to life’s full growth. The abnormal behavior of the nature during the last decades has forced the thinking people of the world to think and find out the causes and means to check. Hazards are natural phenomena which cannot be prevented but measures and policies should be directed to the processes of a hazard become a disaster or mitigation. Unless everyone becomes aware of the need to save our planet from destruction, there can be no hope for mankind. Engineers, artists and men and women in the ordinary walks of life must realize their obligation to humanity and join hands to stop potentially dangerous and disruptive activities which are spoiling our atmosphere and surroundings. Otherwise the earth will soon become a graveyard. We cannot afford to be complacent in protection and conserving our environment for ourselves and for the generation to come. Core Objectives
The specific objectives of CEDS are as follow:
a) Organize training program on community-based disaster risk management, environmental problems, adaptation to climate change at the local and national level;
b) Provide professional training course on Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS);
c) Make research on disaster risk management, environmental problems, climate change and adaptation processes for supporting the communities which would support the government strategies and initiatives;
d) Reduce human sufferings, saves lives and properties of the vulnerable people by creating awareness through different initiatives; and
e) Provide support and assistant for sustainable development which would contribute to other stakeholders and so on.
