“The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home.” — Confucius

At Chittagong University Model United Nations Association (CUMUNA), we believe that every confident delegate, every successful conference and every remarkable achievement is rooted in the unconditional support of family. With this belief at heart, the CUMUNA 12th Anniversary & Family Day 2026, held on 8th May 2026, stood as a heartfelt celebration dedicated to the families who continue to inspire and support our journey.

The esteemed Proctor of the University of Chittagong, Professor Dr. Hossain Shaid Shohorowardy, graced the occasion with his presence. Alongside him were our proud parents, members, alumni, Trustee Board Member Mr. Ishfaqul Kabir Asif and well-wishers, all gathered in an atmosphere filled with appreciation, nostalgia and joy.

Parents witnessed the dedication, discipline and passion that define CUMUNA while applauding the remarkable efforts behind our Model United Nations conferences and year-long activities. Through heartfelt speeches and thoughtful reflections, they shared their experiences, encouragement and aspirations, making the evening deeply meaningful for everyone present.

With visible pride and emotion, parents honoured and celebrated their children, transforming individual accomplishments into a collective celebration of excellence. Beyond the formalities, the evening flourished with laughter, reunions and cherished memories as members and their parents came together to reconnect and relive unforgettable moments with CUMUNA.

As reflections steeped in nostalgia intertwined with aspirations for the future, the event beautifully embodied the profound camaraderie and enduring legacy of the CUMUNA fraternity.

Here’s to many more years of nurturing excellence, strengthening lifelong bonds and flourishing together as one indomitable CUMUNA family.

Our Advisor, Professor Amir Mohammad Nasrullah, Ph.D. represented us on the global stage at the 25th Session of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA), held in New York from 13–17 April 2026. The session centered on rebuilding public trust and accelerating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through strengthened institutions and multilateral cooperation.

During the Interactive Consultation with Observers, Professor Nasrullah who serves as a Professor of Public Administration at the University of Chittagong shared insights on Item 5 of the agenda: “Exploring options for measurement of the principles of effective governance for sustainable development and the Committee’s pentagram of action.”

His intervention focused on the report’s efforts to build measurable governance frameworks through evidence-based assessments. He addressed several critical challenges, emphasizing the deep interdependence of investment and governance in sustainable development also the inherent limitations of relying solely on measurable indicators to capture complex governance realities. Furthermore, he highlighted the issue of unequal data quality across nations and the urgent need for practical implementation strategies for governments operating under significant fiscal and administrative constraints.

His remarks significantly enriched the dialogue on how accountable institutions and inclusive public administration can drive the SDGs forward. We, CUMUNA, hope that these contributions will pave the way for more equitable and data-informed governance systems worldwide, reflecting our commitment to global excellence.

She sat on a hospital floor, holding nothing.
Her six month old daughter was gone, taken by a disease a single vaccine could have stopped.

Over 300 children have died in Bangladesh's measles outbreak this year. Millions of other mothers stood in queues in the heat, held out their children's arms, and said: not mine. Not today. 16 million children vaccinated in weeks. That is a mother's love.

A mother does not arrive at love gradually. She is thrown into it without a rehearsal or a map. But she finds her way every single time. In the sleepless nights when no one witnessed, in the fears she swallowed so you could sleep peacefully, in every sickness, where she quietly sat beside with food she was there. She has always been there. Long before you had the words to thank her, and long after you forgot to.

Today, Chittagong University Model United Nations Association pauses in deep gratitude for the women who hold the world together without ever asking to be acknowledged for it. To every mother who gave without measure, loved without condition, and stayed without question this day belongs to you.

Happy Mother's Day.

"All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence." Martin Luther King Jr.
International Labor Day, also known as May Day, stands as a solemn as well as powerful remembrance of the hands that shape the fabric of society. The Day has its roots in the late 19th century's labor movement, when workers protested in the pursuit of dignity, improved working conditions and fair wages. In 1886, a massive uprising in Chicago in the clamor for eight hours of labor each day led to the defining moment of 'The Haymarket Affair.' Later, championed by some socialist groups in Europe, May 1 was proclaimed as the International Workers' Day.
International Labor Day serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle for workers’ rights and the need for solidarity among all those who labor. It is a day to commemorate the value of labor, the determination and unity of artists, whose efforts, like a fabled magician's wand, ignite ability and convert the abstract ideas of genius into enduring reality.
Let’s pay some tribute to the people whose efforts and resilience light up the world. May we build a future where no worker has to sacrifice their body to earn their bread, and where every hand that builds the world is valued, protected, and honored, for it is through labor that nature answers and every gift finds its true purpose.

Twelve years ago, a small group of dreamers at the University of Chittagong believed that change begins with conversation, curiosity and courage. What began as a modest initiative has since evolved into a distinguished institution, shaping generations of students through the principles of diplomacy, critical inquiry and leadership.

Over the years, CUMUNA has transcended the boundaries of conventional academic engagement, establishing itself as a vibrant forum where ideas are rigorously examined, diverse perspectives are embraced and future leaders are cultivated with purpose and integrity. Every debate, every resolution and every shared moment has contributed to a legacy built on passion and purpose.
As we commemorate this 12th anniversary, we pay tribute to every individual whose dedication and support have been instrumental in this journey. With deep gratitude for the past and steadfast confidence in the future, we remain committed to advancing the ideals that define CUMUNA.

Because, “We are not makers of history. We are made by history.” — Martin Luther King Jr.
