A meaningful step toward climate resilience and sustainable access to safe water was marked in Chitalmari Upazila of Bagerhat as CODEC, with the support of Stromme Foundation, organized a distribution ceremony and discussion meeting under the Climate Change Adaptation Project.

Held on Tuesday, 5 May 2026, at the courtyard of the CODEC Microfinance Office in Chitalmari, the event brought together government officials, development practitioners, journalists, and community members in a shared commitment to addressing one of the region’s most pressing challenges — safe drinking water scarcity.

The program was graced by the presence of Ms. Khadija Akter, Honorable Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Chitalmari, as the Chief Guest. Also present were Project Manager A.N.M. Wahid, Technical Officer Kbd. Md. Sabbir Talukdar, CODEC Branch Manager Mr. Alok Majumdar, President of Chitalmari Press Club Ekramul Haque Munshi, local journalists, distinguished guests, and project beneficiaries.

In her remarks, Ms. Khadija Akter highlighted the severe shortage of safe drinking water in Chitalmari and appreciated CODEC’s timely initiative, emphasizing that rainwater harvesting can play a transformative role in improving the lives of vulnerable communities.

Speaking at the event, Md. Sabbir Talukdar reaffirmed CODEC’s long-standing commitment to the coastal communities of Bangladesh since 1985. Through the Climate Change Adaptation Project, CODEC continues to promote sustainable solutions that strengthen resilience against climate-induced challenges.

🌧️ A major highlight of the program was the distribution of 60 rainwater harvesting tanks, each with a capacity of 3,000 liters, among selected beneficiaries.

These tanks are more than just infrastructure — they symbolize hope, health, dignity, and a sustainable future for families facing water insecurity.

Together, through collective action and community resilience, we are building a safer and more climate-resilient tomorrow.

❤️ To every worker who gives their best every day — 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬.

On International Worker’s Day, CODEC pauses to recognize the people who are the true drivers of development: the farmers, the fishermen, the street vendors, the caregivers, the community volunteers, the informal workers who power our society quietly and tirelessly.

Development means nothing if it doesn’t reach the people who need it most. That’s why our work is rooted in 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, and 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 — not just as values, but as action.

Happy May Day from all of us at CODEC. 🙌

A meaningful step forward in strengthening quality education for Rohingya children was marked through the Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the Subject-Specific and Pedagogical Training for Grade 3–5 teachers, organized by Asian University for Women with technical support from UNICEF. The event celebrated the successful completion of a comprehensive teacher development initiative aimed at improving classroom teaching in humanitarian settings.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Mizanur Rahman, Additional Secretary and RRRC, along with senior representatives from UNICEF, including the Chief of Education, UNICEF Bangladesh, the Chief of UNICEF Field Office, and partner organizations including CODEC, BRAC, and Mukti. Their participation reflected a shared commitment to ensuring better learning opportunities for children in the camps.

During the event, Md. Shafi Ullah, Master Trainer from CODEC, delivered an inspiring speech on the transformative value of teacher training. He highlighted how strengthening both subject knowledge and learner-centered teaching approaches can help teachers respond more effectively to the diverse needs of children in the Rohingya camps.

More than 200 teachers and Master Trainers from the CODEC–UNICEF Education Project successfully completed the intensive training program. The initiative focused on:
📘 Strengthening subject knowledge
👩‍🏫 Improving classroom management
🌱 Promoting inclusive and interactive teaching methods
📝 Enhancing student assessment practices

In the challenging context of refugee education, investing in teachers is investing in children’s futures. This collaboration between CODEC, UNICEF, and AUW demonstrates how strong partnerships can create safer, more engaging, and more effective learning environments for every child.

Together, we continue working toward a future where every child has access to meaningful and quality education.
