World Autism Awareness Day 2026

Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, we renew our commitment to building a more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable world for autistic individuals.

This year’s theme, “Autism and Humanity – Every Life Has Value,” reminds us to embrace inclusion, neurodiversity, and equal rights for autistic individuals. By fostering understanding and respect, we can create a society where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and thrive.

The day calls on all of us to move beyond stereotypes and limiting narratives, and instead promote inclusion, understanding, and equal opportunities. Ensuring that autistic individuals can participate fully in education, employment, culture, and community life is a shared responsibility for all.

SDG Youth Forum believes that a truly sustainable future is only possible when every person is valued, included, and empowered.

💙 Let us stand together for dignity, acceptance, and a more inclusive world.

International Women’s Day 2026 (IWD 2026), under the theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”, marks a moment to amplify our collective determination. No matter how deeply rooted the sexism or how discouraging the politics, we refuse to step back or abandon our mandate. Instead, we climb together – for the rights and empowerment of all women and girls.

This year, IWD 2026 calls for action to dismantle the structural barriers to equal justice: discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful practices and social norms that erode the rights of women and girls.

Our cities are growing faster than ever, but are they growing better?

Our Five Principles of Sustainable Neighbourhood Planning provide the foundation for a resilient, inclusive, and vibrant urban future.

From the hills of Medellín to the bustling streets of Nairobi, here is how we build the neighbourhoods of tomorrow, today:

1. Streets for people, not just cars

Interconnected, safe, and accessible street networks are the lungs of a city. They facilitate walking, cycling, and universal access, reducing the "last mile" connectivity gap.

2. The power of density

We need high-density urban growth (at least 15,000 people per km²) to stop urban sprawl.

3. Mix it up! (land Use)

Why commute for hours? Integrating residential, commercial, and recreational spaces means daily necessities are
just a 5-minute walk away.

4. Diverse homes, diverse voices

Inclusive cities require a variety of housing types and plot sizes.

5. Live local, work local

Supporting local production and consumption reduces "food miles" and dependency on long supply chains.

By integrating nature-based solutions and multi-modal housing and transportation systems, these principles aim to build resilient communities capable of withstanding climate stressors while maintaining a unique local identity.

Bottom line: well-planned urbanization is a transformative force. Let’s move from spatially fragmented blocks to compact, connected, and inclusive communities.

Climate change is causing widespread environmental damage and disrupting ecosystems around the world.
It is also directly threatening human rights, including access to food, water, health and safe shelter.

National Coastal Convention 2025

Our core demands are clear: strong embankments to protect coastal communities from saline water intrusion, guaranteed livelihood security, and prioritising the coast in national policymaking. The overall development of Bangladesh is inseparable from the development of its coast. Climate justice is urgent and non-negotiable.

Organized by PRAAN – Participatory Research & Action Network, with SDG Youth Forum as the youth partner, this convention marks the beginning of a new chapter. We are fighting, and our struggle will continue—Insha’Allah, we will bring smiles back to the faces of coastal communities.

Loss and Damage: A Question of Justice, Not Loans

SDG Youth Forum organized the COP30 Experience Sharing & Climate Dialogue, where youth climate activist Afra Nawar Rahman highlighted the urgent realities faced by Bangladesh and other climate-vulnerable countries. Despite contributing the least to global emissions, these nations are experiencing the greatest losses from floods, cyclones, and other climate disasters.

Afra emphasized that financial support for Loss and Damage should never be loan-based. It must be fair, grant-based, and accessible, ensuring that countries already bearing the brunt of climate impacts are not burdened with further debt.

She stressed that promises alone are not enough. What is urgently needed is real action, effective support, and tangible climate justice. Bangladesh continues to suffer from a crisis it did not create, and global solidarity must translate into meaningful assistance.
