The Grand Launch: 2nd International Climate Camp Officially Inangurated!

The energy reached its absolute peak as the formal Inauguration Session took center stage, officially launching five days of intense climate action, youth leadership, and regional solidarity.

Moderated by Dr. Nandan Mukherjee (Director of the Binks Institute for Sustainability, University of Dundee, Scotland), the session brought together a stellar lineup of global decision-makers and visionary speakers who challenged the youth to turn climate science into real-world transformation.

We heard powerful, inspiring charges from our distinguished panel:
🏛️ Ms. Geeta Chaudhary (Nepal’s Minister for Agriculture, Forests, and Environment) and Honorable Mr. Sulav Kharel (Member of Parliament, Nepal), who underscored the critical role of youth in local policy and regional conservation.
🤝 H.E. Md. Shafiqur Rahman (Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal) and Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber (Vice-Chancellor, Stamford University Bangladesh), emphasizing cross-border academic and diplomatic alliances.
💡 Amrit Devkota (CEO & Chairperson, IDEAS NEPAL), who highlighted the innovation required to drive green solutions at the grassroots level.

A Milestone Moment: The First Book Launch!
A major highlight of the evening was the official launching of the very first book documenting the groundbreaking success and impact of the 1st International Climate Camp (2025). This publication stands as a testament to what youth-led, community-based climate action can achieve in the Himalayas.

The session was further enriched by a special presentation from the Nepal Tourism Board, showcasing the stunning, yet vulnerable, natural heritage we are all here to protect. Finally, Mr. Ahsan Rony (Executive Director and Founder of Mission Green Bangladesh) delivered the closing remarks, leaving the room charged up and ready for the journey ahead.

As urban heat islands expand and biodiversity shrinks, we are shifting our focus toward creating sustainable, thriving forests-from massive rural landscapes to micro-forests in our own backyards.
