The future of work is changing. But are young people getting the opportunities they need to keep up?

Globally, AI and digital transformation are reshaping industries and redefining the skills employers value. In Bangladesh, the challenge extends beyond education to creating quality jobs and connecting young talent with meaningful opportunities.

For Chattogram, a major hub for trade, industry and commerce, this presents both a challenge and an opportunity. How can we bridge the gap between education and employment? Can stronger industry–university collaboration, digital skills development and youth entrepreneurship help build a more opportunity-driven local economy?

The future of Chattogram depends not only on preparing young people for tomorrow’s jobs, but also on creating an environment where those opportunities can thrive.

Youth’s Biggest Challenges in Chattogram

For young people, a city’s challenges are not always distant or abstract. Some shape their everyday lives, while others quietly influence the decisions they make about their future.

From waterlogging that disrupts classes, exams, interviews and daily mobility to the lack of quality local employment opportunities that pushes many young people to consider leaving the city, these challenges directly affect the way youth experience Chattogram.

But understanding the problem is only the beginning.

The bigger question is: What can we, as young people, do to shape a better Chattogram?

Last week, we hosted a Shapers Meet at Bandarban University, bringing together Shapers and young leaders from across the city for an engaging conversation about the Global Shapers Chattogram Hub, our activities, and the wider Global Shapers Community.

It was inspiring to connect with young people who are passionate about creating positive change in their communities and beyond. We look forward to welcoming more changemakers into our community, fostering new connections, and building meaningful collaborations together.

As the curtain falls on his term as Curator of the Global Shapers Chattogram Hub, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Yusuf Munna for his dedicated leadership, unwavering commitment, and vision in taking the Hub to new heights.

Under his stewardship, the Hub strengthened its community, expanded its impact, and continued to empower young leaders to drive meaningful change. His passion and service have laid a strong foundation for the journey ahead.

While his tenure as Curator has concluded, we are grateful that Yusuf will continue to guide and support the current leadership team, ensuring continuity as the Hub embarks on its next chapter.
