Closing Another Chapter of Hope
Throughout August, Sane Change proudly hosted a One-Month English Mentorship Scholarship Program, designed and directed by Professor Joe Robert Vioget (USA).
With the dedication of our amazing mentors from the Philippines and the tireless efforts of our Volunteer Coordinator, Ms. Zairah Mariano, six Afghan students were paired with six mentors, each journey filled with learning, guidance, and transformation. On September 5, 2025, we celebrated our Closing Ceremony, marking not just the end of a program but the beginning of new opportunities.
At the end of this mentorship, we were truly astonished by the remarkable achievements of our students, successfully crafting their personal statements and showing unwavering enthusiasm for learning, even amid distressed situations. Their inspiration continues to shine as a beacon of hope.
Through this mentorship program, the Sane Change mission is clear: to transform the hopeless dynamic of Afghan girls into lives of brightness, confidence, and hope.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this program a success, and to our students, who inspire us every day.

Sonya: A Warrior of the Forest

In a remote and impoverished village, surrounded by lush green hills, lives Sonya—a woman of quiet strength and unwavering hope. She is more than just a mother; she is a warrior, a survivor, and a beacon of resilience.

Life in the village is harsh, but Sonya does not let it break her spirit. She is a skilled tailor, sewing clothes for people in her community. This is her job, her way of providing for her family. Yet, her work does not end there. With the determination of a fighter, she ventures into the jungle, collecting wood to cook food for her loved ones. Her hands, though calloused from hard labor, are gentle when she cares for her children.

Despite the struggles, Sonya never loses her warmth. Her smile, radiant and full of hope, tells a story of dreams yet to be fulfilled. She believes in a brighter future, not just for herself, but for her family and her community. She is strong—strong like the trees around her, strong like the mountains she walks upon.

On this Women's Day, we celebrate Sonya and countless women like her—women who fight daily battles with courage and grace, proving that true strength lies in perseverance, love, and an unshakable belief in tomorrow.

Discussion from PPE to How to Become a Grade A Student in PPE!

We had an interactive session with Adela Rasuly, a PPE (Politics, Philosophy, and Economics) student who will be graduating in Spring 2025. She shared valuable insights for those considering PPE as their major and answered participants' questions. She emphasized that PPE is a broad, interdisciplinary program that opens up diverse career opportunities in government, international organizations, academia, law, business, and NGOs.

She shared her experiences as a student of PPE briefly. Adela Rasuly explained how much she has enjoyed her undergraduate journey, approaching each class with enthusiasm. Her studies have challenged her to explore deep questions about existence, the workings of today’s complex world, and how individuals can contribute to creating a better society.

It was not only an informative session but also an exchange of knowledge, insights, and positive vibes in a friendly circle.
