Open Dialogue and Interactive Q&A Session on Menstrual Health Held in Barishal

To raise awareness on menstrual health and challenge common misconceptions, an interactive discussion titled “Menstrual Health: Open Dialogue and Interactive Question & Answer Session” was held at the AVAS Training Centre in Barishal.

The event was organized by RedOrange under the Youth Share-Net Project as part of the Local Youth and SRHR Network Formation initiative, with support from AmplifyChange and implementation by Association of Voluntary Actions for Society (AVAS).

The programme brought together young people, health professionals, educators, community representatives, journalists, and local stakeholders for an open discussion on menstrual health, nutrition, hygiene, social attitudes, and the role of youth in promoting positive change.

A special Menstrual Health and Nutrition Corner showcased nutritious foods rich in iron, vitamins, folate, and protein, highlighting the importance of balanced nutrition during menstruation.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Shahidul Islam, Director of Advocacy and Communication, AVAS, emphasized that menstrual health is a natural and essential health issue that requires open discussion and accurate information.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting menstrual health awareness, creating supportive social environments, and strengthening youth leadership in advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).

Together, we can break stigma, promote knowledge, and build healthier communities for all.

বিশিষ্ট দন্ত চিকিৎসক, সমাজসেবক ও মানবাধিকার কর্মী বরিশালের সর্বস্তরের মানুষের প্রিয় মুখ, প্রথিতযশা সমাজসেবক আলহাজ্ব ডা. সৈয়দ হাবিবুর রহমান-এর মৃত্যুতে আমরা আভাস পরিবার গভীরভাবে শোকাহত।
ডা. সৈয়দ হাবিবুর রহমান ছিলেন আভাসের একজন নিবেদিতপ্রাণ বন্ধু, শুভাকাঙ্ক্ষী ও সহযোগী। তাঁর আন্তরিকতা, মানবিক মূল্যবোধ এবং সমাজকল্যাণে অবদান আমাদের কাছে চিরস্মরণীয় হয়ে থাকবে। তাঁর প্রয়াণে আভাস তার দীর্ঘ পথচলার একজন পরীক্ষিত স্বজন ও অকৃত্রিম শুভানুধ্যায়ীকে হারালো।
আমরা আভাস পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে তাঁর শোকসন্তপ্ত পরিবার, আত্মীয়/স্বজন, সহকর্মী এবং গুণগ্রাহীদের প্রতি গভীর সমবেদনা ও সহমর্মিতা জ্ঞাপন করছি।
মহান আল্লাহ্ তাআলা মরহুম আলহাজ্ব ডা. সৈয়দ হাবিবুর রহমানকে জান্নাতুল ফেরদৌসের উচ্চ মাকাম দান করুন এবং তাঁর পরিবারকে এই শোক সহ্য করার শক্তি দান করুন।

On 26 May 2026, with the generous support of Islamic Relief Bangladesh, Association of Voluntary Actions for Society (AVAS) distributed financial assistance for purchasing 40 sacrificial cows among 1,400 Manta and slum community families in Barishal Sadar ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Adha.

With the active support and coordination of AVAS and IRB staff members, the community procurement committee of the Manta and slum community successfully completed the purchase of all 40 cows today.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment to dignity, inclusion, and support for marginalized communities during this sacred occasion. AVAS expresses sincere gratitude to Islamic Relief Bangladesh for standing beside the Manta and slum community and helping bring the joy of Eid to vulnerable families.
