Our dear friend Muhammed Ashfaque Ahammed Tanim, a student of BRAC University been diagnosed with Mixed Phenotype Acute Leukaemia (MPAL), a rare and extremely aggressive form of blood cancer that combines both B cell and T cell types. He is only 24 years old, with his whole life ahead of him, but right now, he is fighting one of the toughest battles anyone could face.
Just three years ago, Tanim’s father passed away, leaving behind his mother and two sons. His mother is a breast cancer survivor who spent all their family’s strength, time, and resources on her own treatment. Now, as Tanim begins his fight, this family once again needs our prayers and help.
Tanim’s elder brother (30 years old) and sister-in-law are currently with him at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram (Haryana, Delhi, India), where he has been admitted and has already started intensive chemotherapy in the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) suite. After completing all his reports, including bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, doctors confirmed the diagnosis: MPAL with 32 percent bone marrow blast count.
The doctors explained that Tanim will need both intensive chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant (BMT), as there are no alternatives for this condition. The BMT’s success will depend on the matching percentage.
The estimated total cost of Tanim’s treatment is around 1 to 1.5 crore BDT. (BMT’s cost depends on the matching percentage.) His family has already faced immense hardship, first his mother’s cancer, then his father’s passing, and they now need our help and support to continue Tanim’s treatment.
In this situation, we can do only two things: pray and help. Please keep Tanim in your prayers and, if possible, contribute whatever you can. Every small contribution truly matters. It could give him the chance to live, to heal, and to hope again.
আমাদের প্রিয় বন্ধু তানিম আক্রান্ত হয়েছে মিক্সড ফিনোটাইপ একিউট লিউকেমিয়া (MPAL) নামের এক বিরল ও মারাত্মক রক্তের ক্যান্সারে, যেখানে বি সেল ও টি সেল দুই ধরনের ক্যান্সারই একসাথে দেখা দেয়। মাত্র ২৪ বছর বয়সে, জীবনের শুরুতেই তাকে এক কঠিন লড়াইয়ের মুখোমুখি হতে হয়েছে।
মাত্র তিন বছর আগে তানিমের বাবা মারা গেছেন, রেখে গেছেন মা ও দুই ছেলেকে। তার মা একজন ব্রেস্ট ক্যান্সার সারভাইভার, যিনি নিজের চিকিৎসার জন্য পরিবারের অনেক কিছুই ব্যয় করেছেন। এখন তানিমের অসুস্থতার এই সংকটে, পরিবারটি আবারও আমাদের দোয়া ও সহায়তা প্রয়োজন।
তানিমের বড় ভাই (৩০ বছর বয়স) এবং ভাবি এখন ভারতের হারিয়ানার গুরগাঁওয়ের ফোর্টিস মেমোরিয়াল রিসার্চ ইনস্টিটিউটে তার সঙ্গে আছেন। সেখানে তানিম হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হয়েছে এবং ইতিমধ্যেই বোন ম্যারো ট্রান্সপ্লান্ট (BMT) স্যুটে ইনটেনসিভ কেমোথেরাপি শুরু করেছে। সব রিপোর্ট ও টেস্ট সম্পন্ন করার পর ডাক্তাররা নিশ্চিত করেছেন যে এটি MPAL লিউকেমিয়া, যেখানে বোন ম্যারো ব্লাস্ট কাউন্ট ৩২ শতাংশ।
ডাক্তারদের মতে, এই ক্যান্সারের চিকিৎসায় ইনটেনসিভ কেমোথেরাপি ও বোন ম্যারো ট্রান্সপ্লান্ট দুটোই অপরিহার্য। বোন ম্যারো ট্রান্সপ্লান্টের সফলতা নির্ভর করবে ম্যাচিংয়ের উপর।
এই চিকিৎসার আনুমানিক খরচ ১ থেকে ১.৫ কোটি টাকা।(বোন ম্যারো ট্রান্সপ্লান্টের খরচ নির্ভর করবে ম্যাচিংয়ের উপর।) মায়ের ক্যান্সার চিকিৎসা ও বাবার মৃত্যুর পর এই পরিবার ইতিমধ্যেই অনেক কষ্টের মধ্য দিয়ে গেছে, এবং তাদের এখন আমাদের সহায়তা প্রয়োজন তানিমের চিকিৎসা চালিয়ে যেতে।
