International Primate Day 2025

The South Asian country Bangladesh is home to 10 species of non-human primates. The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species has categorised four of these primates as Endangered, three Vulnerable, one Near Threatened and one Least Concern on a global scale. Moreover, the Western Hoolock Gibbon and Phayre's langur have been listed among the most threatened primates in the world! It concludes that 70% of the primates in Bangladesh are at risk without our strategic conservation interventions!

Alarming Update:

Phayre's langur (Trachypithecus phayrei) has now been recognized as one of the most threatened primates in the world. It has been included in the "Other Species Considered" list of the Primates in Peril 2023–2025 report—a global initiative highlighting the urgency of primate conservation.

We are honored to have contributed to this critical effort.
For a brief overview of the threats facing this remarkable species, please refer to the dedicated chapter in the report.

🐒🐒 CELEBRATION OF COLOBINE MONKEY DAY 2024 🐒🐒

Today we celebrated the first-ever Colobine Monkey Day- 2024 at Satchari National Park in Bangladesh. The event focuses on raising awareness and knowledge sharing about the threatened colobines langurs with the school-going students of the local Indigenous Tipra community living in the forest fringe areas. Due to the ongoing flooding situation, we had to keep our program short and simple. We organized a short rally, an art competition for the school-going students, a knowledge-sharing session, and the distribution of leaflets. A few moments of the events are shared below!
