In the year of 2001 some young students of Bagerhat P.C College felt in necessary to help people who had been absolutely destitute, unprivileged and extremely poor. They had no access to health facilities, e
ducation, no employment no homestead and no land. These enthusiastic students realize that their existed number of problems of slum dwellers and their living status is extremely worse. Besides their education, these students established a health care, center to ensure services to the slum dwellers. On that time they motivated the slum people on nutrition; primary health care; antenatal and postnatal care; diarrhea and other communicable diseases. As day passed this work has been turned into multifarious development interventions like education, nutrition and employment. In 2001 most of those students left the college after completion of their final examination and went back to their respective village. Some of them started development work in order to assist the targeted people for their socio-economic up liftmen in their own village in Rampal and Bagerhat upazila under Bagerhat district Sk. Sukuruzzaman one of the dedicated development workers along with a group of local social workers established Roots Bangladesh and started to implement development program activities in his own village’s area under Bagerhat upazila. The Scenario’s of Roots Bangladesh’s working area is that women are socially disadvantaged, neglected little no access to health facilities and economically vulnerable. They are denied the legal, human and democratic right and employment opportunities. It is fact that the right of women and children are violated in family, community and institution. Most of the women and children have affected by malnutrition. On the other hand health service is quite inadequate and they have no proper health education.
