Kiwanis Barbados South The Kiwanis Club of Barbados South is a member of Kiwanis International, a worldwide service organisation, and is one of eight Kiwanis clubs in Barbados.

The club was organised in September 1989 and chartered in March 1990. Club History

The Kiwanis Club of Barbados South was formed on September 26th, 1989. It was chartered with twenty-six male members on 26th March, 1990 at the Sam Lords Hotel in St. Philip, Barbados by Mr. Carlton E. Levy, District Governor of the Eastern Canada and the Caribbean District. The Kiwanis Clubs of Bridgetown and Barbados North sponsored the club making it the third Kiwanis Club in Barbados. Kiwanian Dennis Graham was elected Charter President and Kiwanian Desmond Willett the Charter Secretary. Throughout the club's existence, membership remained all male until the Board of Directors at it's meeting on April 8th 1999 approved a proposal for membership from Mrs. Joycelyn Johnson. Kiwanian Joycelyn was inducted on April 20th 1999 as the first female member of the club. Distinguished Lieutenant Governor Lennox Prescod (1998 - 1999) of Division 27 performed the induction at which three other members were inducted. A few weeks later, Kiwanian Eleanor Small earned the distinction of being the second female inductee. To date there are 28 female members.
