The Bahamas is strengthening its approach to disaster displacement and environmental migration. 🌪️🌊

Through a national validation workshop led by IOM, government, civil society and disaster management partners came together to review policies and identify solutions to better protect people forced to move due to disasters.

As climate risks increase across the Caribbean, coordinated, evidence-based policies are critical to ensuring safety, dignity and support for affected communities.

This initiative, funded by European Union Humanitarian Aid, aims to strengthen disaster responses and resilience in the 13 Participating States of CDEMA, through more robust systems, improved preparedness, and protection of vulnerable populations.

– Prepared, Protected, and United.

Tip #3: Don't wait for an emergency to strike! We're currently in hurricane season. It's essential to prepare an emergency kit. Store important documents in a waterproof bag, have a flashlight and battery-operated radio ready, stock up on hygiene items, water, necessary medications, and some cash in small denominations. 🌪️🛠️💧
