BIFF was founded by Jennifer Smith and Sir Trevor Carmichael and they currently serve as the Festival's Co-Directors. The Festival programs features length films and shorts from around the world that celebrate the power of resilience and humankind’s capacity to overcome adversity. The inaugural Barbados Independent Film Festival took place January 2017.

Happy World Water Day! — As apart of our celebrations of the 9th Season of BIFF, we look some of our visiting filmmakers to Walkers Reserve ( ) to tour their reserve and plant trees! 🌎🌱💧

Walkers Reserve values hydrological resources. Over the last several years, they’ve integrated water testing into their operations to ensure this water is safe to use for irrigation on site and supports the wildlife at the Reserve.

Taking a look back at one of our Season 9 Workshops — Screenwriting with industry expert Dwain Worrell ( )

This was an amazing workshop for aspiring writers hosted at Parachute Film Studios ( )

📑 Dwain currently works as a writer and executive producer on the Paramount+ series Fire Country. His previous works include the Marvel/Netflix Series Iron Fist, Disney+’s National Treasure, and Amazon Studio’s The Wall, to name a few. Dwain’s debut novel, Androne, is currently being developed as a film
adaptation.
