Barbados Coalition of Service Industries - BCSI The BCSI was established in 2002 to build a strong national business sector for the service industries.

We aim to create an environment within which our members will thrive. BCSI is a national umbrella body that brings together all services sector organizations and associations. We are the sole business support organization in Barbados that is dedicated to representing the interests of service providers and the services sector. As an alliance of professional services, our main mandate is to effectively lobby to continually represent and address development and trade in services issues, which are critical for the sector to thrive in the competitive global environment. We are a membership-based organization, comprising a range of stakeholders operating in and related to the services sector. The BCSI works with our members to shape domestic and regional economic policies on behalf of the services sector. Our goals include:

assisting in the development of domestic regulations to enhance the competitiveness of Barbados’ services sector,
enhancing bilateral services trading relationships,
reducing barriers to services trade with our trading partners, and
opening opportunities for our members wherever possible.

Day 2 of the Caribbean Investment Forum (CIF) 2026 reinforced the message that the Caribbean must move from potential to investment, ideas to action, and opportunity to scale.

As a proud sponsor of the 5th Caribbean Investment Forum, BCSI was pleased to be part of this important platform connecting investors, policymakers, entrepreneurs and business leaders.

Barbados' Prime Minister the Hon. Mia Amor Mottley challenged the region to think bigger, scale our ambitions and create the conditions to mobilise investment across areas including renewable energy, digital infrastructure, logistics, transportation and other growth sectors.

Today, BCSI's Executive Director, Michelle Smith-Mayers is representing the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries at the Barbados National Standardisation Strategy (NSS) Stakeholder Sensitisation and Verification Workshop, hosted by the Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI) in collaboration with CROSQ.

The workshop brings together key stakeholders to review and validate findings from the NSS Needs Assessment, identify sector-specific standards and regulatory gaps, and provide input to help prioritise national standardisation needs.

As a key voice for Barbados’ services sector, BCSI is pleased to co⁶ntribute sector knowledge and perspectives to this important national initiative, helping to ensure that the Strategy reflects the needs and priorities of businesses across the services economy.

Held on Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23, 2026 at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord's Castle Resort, and online via Zoom Events, BIBA's flagship conference brings together local and international executives, investors, policymakers and business leaders under the theme Business Beyond Borders: Driving Ideas, Innovation and Impact.

BCSI’s Executive Director, Mrs. Michelle Smith-Mayers, is participating in today’s Construction Industry Consultation, hosted by the TVET Council TVET Council Barbados at the Hilton Barbados Resort.

This full-day consultation brings together a diverse cross-section of stakeholders from across Barbados’ construction ecosystem including contractors and construction companies, professional and industry associations, skilled trades, training and workforce development institutions, government agencies, employers and other key partners.

The consultation provides an important opportunity for industry stakeholders to examine current and emerging workforce needs, identify skills gaps and training requirements, and explore opportunities for professional and technical development.
Discussions will also address the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, priorities for future training and workforce initiatives, and practical recommendations to strengthen support for Barbados’ construction industry.

BCSI welcomes the opportunity to contribute to these important discussions and to advocate for a skilled, competitive and future-ready workforce capable of supporting the continued growth and transformation of Barbados’ construction and wider services sectors.
