🎉⚜️ A Proud Moment for Scouting! ⚜️🎉

The Barbados Boy Scouts Association proudly congratulates Nicholai Downes, Venture Scout of the Roland Edwards Scout Group, on being selected as a recipient of the prestigious President’s International Scholarship of Excellence at York University 🌍🎓

This highly competitive award recognises outstanding international students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, strong leadership qualities, and meaningful involvement in volunteer and extracurricular activities. With only a limited number of recipients selected each year from around the world, this is truly a remarkable accomplishment!

Nicholai’s achievement is a shining example of dedication, hard work, and the true spirit of Scouting.

🤖Barbados Robotics Team Heads to the World Stage! 🌍🔥

A talented team of secondary school students from across Barbados is set to represent the island at the VEX Robotics World Championships in St. Louis, Missouri from April 21 to 24, 2026!

The Gears and Bots 246 Robotics Club, made up of students from The St. Michael School, Harrison College, Queen’s College, Alleyne School, and The Foundation School, has spent the past five months designing and building two incredible robots from scratch - “Flying Fish” and “Broken Trident” 🚀

Their hard work and innovation were recently showcased at the Strategic Innovation Unit (SIU), impressing educators, sponsors, and officials alike.

We are especially proud to highlight that one of our own, Sea Scout and Patrol Leader Tykairi Sargeant of the St. Gabriel’s Scout Group, is part of this outstanding team! ⚜️

This journey represents more than competition. It is about Barbados stepping forward as a creator of technology.

🎉⚜️ Congratulations, Shakir! ⚜️🎉

The Barbados Boy Scouts Association proudly congratulates our very own Shakir Daisley, Venture Scout of The First Barbados Sea Scout Troop, on his election as President of the Barbados National Student Council Executive Committee for 2026–2027 👏🏽

The elections, held on April 17th, 2026, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, brought together student leaders from across the island in a powerful display of youth leadership and participation. Following a two-tier election process, a new Executive has been chosen to represent the voices of students nationwide.

We also extend congratulations to the full Executive Team:
✨ Vice Presidents – Janae Husbands & Naarah Clarke
✨ General Secretary – Destiny Rouse

Shakir’s achievement is a true reflection of leadership, dedication, and the values of Scouting. We are incredibly proud to see him step into this important role and represent the youth of Barbados at such a high level.

⚜️ Celebrating 114 Years of Scouting in Barbados ⚜️

As we continue to celebrate our 114th Anniversary of Scouting in Barbados this month, the Barbados Boy Scouts Association recently appeared on CBC TV8’s Mornin’ Barbados programme.

During the interview, we reflected on the activities held so far for Scout Month, shared highlights of our upcoming events, and discussed the future plans of the association.

We also emphasised the important need for more volunteers to help strengthen and grow the Scouting movement in Barbados.

Representing the Association were Rev. Martin Taylor, Deputy Chief Commissioner and International Commissioner, and Rondell Trim, Venture Platinum Awardee and Youth Commissioner.

Thank you to CBC TV8 for the opportunity to share the work and impact of Scouting in Barbados as we continue to inspire and develop young people for the future.
