Equals

Equals Equals is an organisation dedicated to working with and for the LGBTQI community. Providing, linking We were officially incorporated in 2013.

Equals is a Civil Society Organisation (CSO) that works with the LGBTQI community & key populations. Our main mandate is to work for and with persons within our key population groups to help them access quality services such as healthcare, social care, counseling, etc and to advocate for their needs in these systems. For Equals this is done by creating safe social spaces and programmes, helping pe

rsons access stigma and discrimination free services, working on policy with service providers, defending and advocating human rights issues of persons in these key populations. For a while Equals operated in the background, working with LGBTQI youth and providing a safe space for them to socialise under the support of the Caribbean HIV AIDS Alliance and the Barbados HIV AIDS Commission. Our Social Media Project is all about education and discussion on all issues relating to the LGBTQI community. We are hoping to be able to not only educate the community on issues that affect them, but also to educate those who may not be a part of the community with information on the community. The organisation is based in Barbados and we also have contacts in many departments (education, health, etc.) and if a community member requires assistance accessing a service (e.g. health care or legal) we will do our best to assist.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the Equals Pride Quiz Night at Sage Bar and Stage!

So many teams signed up on the night, making this the best turnout we have seen since we started Pride Quiz back in 2018. That kind of growth means everything to us, and it would not happen without a community that keeps showing up.

To every team that competed and all the people who came to cheer or hang out you made the night.

Pride season is still going strong with five more events this month, so follow for all the info.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the Equals Pride Hike 2026 on the Chalky Mount trail.

Whether it was your first hike or your tenth, you showed up, kept moving, and we made it to the top together. That is exactly the kind of energy that defines this community.

We are grateful for every single person from the community or ally who laced up their shoes and joined us for this Pride flag-lined trail.

More Pride events are still to come this month so stay close.

Happy Pride Month from Equals Barbados! Since 2018, Pride Barbados has stood as another vital time for amplifying queerness in Barbados, fostering community, strengthening alliances, and contributing to a broader global dialogue on equality, all while staying rooted in the unique realities of Caribbean life.

Equals' continued leadership in Pride reflects a deep commitment to advancing equality and inclusion right here at home. This year, that call is louder than ever. Pride '26 has FIVE organisations, all producing different events for our community across the month.

In 2026, Equals' commitment goes beyond celebration toward intentional action, supporting advocacy, encouraging dialogue, and creating spaces that truly centre the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people. We are happy to celebrate with our partners, our allies and our community.
