As we recently celebrated International Day of Forests, did you know that forests help to create balance in terms of climate and water regulation? Although tropical rainforests cover less than 3% of the land on the Earth, they're home to more than half of terrestrial animal species worldwide. 🌳🌳🌳

Bringing it home, did you know that King’s Hill Forest Reserve is the oldest Forest Reserve in St. Vincent and the second oldest in the Western Hemisphere? It was established in 1791 to ‘attract the clouds and rain’ and thus provide rain for surrounding areas that were otherwise dry and windswept. The natural vegetation of the area is Dry Woodland forest, and soils are generally light and sandy.

Disclaimer: This photo is not meant to represent King's Hill, but forests in general.

Today we mark International Women's Day!

Our GIS Specialist Tenika shares that "women in GIS provide essential views, transforming maps into tales that echo the varied voices of our world, from solving spatial mysteries to creating data narratives. We reshape the world in the spirit of inclusivity and empowerment, bridging the divide between empathy and technology. As a woman in GIS, I will continue to use my platform to act as a trailblazer and pioneer who inspires inclusion for women not only in the field of GIS, but all fields. I will continue to use my voice to show women like myself, the infinite possibilities for change."

Salute all women today!

We are pleased to share once again this funding database, which can be accessed via our website. It contains a list of the funding opportunities for St. Lucia, Grenada, Dominica and St Vincent and the Grenadines through the project. Many of the opportunities are year-round or annual. Even for those which have expired, there is the possibility that these projects/funders will have new calls for funding opportunities in the future which means you can save the information provided. Save the details!
