Getting ready for the takes many forms – even through tank training grounds!

Our colleague David Campbell warmed up for the this weekend by the gravel . The route even crossed the Salisbury Plain army training area – complete with a passing tank convoy!

Make the most of the weeks left until the begins on September 21st by training on Trebević.

This mountain overlooking Sarajevo was also a favourite for cycling and running. Rising to 1,629 m above sea level, its routes climb steadily at gradients of 6–8% and finally reward you with a wide-open view over the city that pushes you to go further.

“A route not taken. Paul and I had been talking about riding this new, brutal and beautiful Alps Road to Mt. Trebević above Sarajevo,” says Ziyah Gafić. “An old Austrian supply route to what was then the fortified Trebević. During the siege, it served as an access route to the frontline. In the background, you can see the destroyed houses, the point of contact where brotherhood and unity collided.”

Whether you walk 5km, bike 100km, or swim across your local bay, your action movement helps fund scholarships for emerging visual journalists and mental health support for those bearing witness to crisis and injustice.

Paul’s work inspired generations of storytellers with his belief that journalism should hold power to account, and that endurance, in both body and spirit, was key to that mission. This challenge isn’t just about fitness; it’s about carrying that spirit forward.
