The IWCS also raises funds through various events and programmes to help selected charities and humanitarian causes throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. Of special interest are causes that are concerned with women’s issues, education and health care. The Humanitarian Action Committee receives requests for funding and recommends projects to the Board. The Holiday Spirit Bazaar has been the club’s major fundraising event since 1997. The entire community eagerly anticipates the Bazaar each year as it showcases local and international handcrafts and offers a chance to enjoy international culinary fare provided by numerous embassies. In 2008/2009, the IWCS raised funds for “Šareni Park” a playground adapted for disabled children. The park is being built in collaboration with the Novo Sarajevo Municipality. The IWCS also maintains the aquarium in the playroom of the oncology ward of the Pediatrics hospital in Sarajevo thanks to a donation from NATO.
