3 days. 25 incredible young people. One mission: Make our community better. 💪

We recently wrapped up an intense local training as part of Creative Canvas project. The three-day training gathered more than 20 young people, to learn about art and fight against hate speech, and was led by our brilliant facilitators Mia, Omar, Emma, and Aiman! 🌟

From diving into the Guidebook 🎨 we discussed mastering hands-on strategies for recognizing and stopping hate speech 🛑!

Creative Canvas project will be implemented from November 2025 to October 2027, with activities in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and Serbia. Creative Canvas project is co-financed by the European Union.

Watch the Mica Todorović mural come to life, from the first brushstrokes to the finished portrait now part of Sarajevo’s streets. Inspired by her own paintings, the piece was created as part of the “HERstory” project, dedicated to raising awareness and visibility of significant female figures through research, urban culture, and creativity.

The Obojena Klapa team was honoured to present the mural, a tribute to Mica Todorović, an exceptional painter and devoted educator who shaped generations of artists in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The “HERstory” project is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union 🇪🇺 and implemented by Beyond Borders (Italy), Club for Youth Empowerment 018 (Serbia), Dream Colours (Czech Republic), Obojena Klapa (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Danish Youth Team (Denmark).

We are happy to announce that the Graffiti ABC: A Guide to Combat Hate Speech has been developed and is now available for young activists, youth workers, campaigners, educators, artists and everyone interested in using creative methods to promote inclusion and stand against hate speech.

Inside the guidebook, readers can find content on the history and significance of graffiti in activism, practical instructions on graffiti techniques, drawing graffiti letters, using stencils, spray paint and paste-up techniques, as well as safety guidelines and ethical and legal considerations when creating art in public spaces. The publication also includes examples of successful graffiti-based campaigns and stencil ideas that can be used in future actions.

Graffiti ABC: A Guide to Combat Hate Speech is available in five languages: English, Serbian, Bosnian, Albanian and Italian.

We have researched some important topics!

Together with Perspektiva from Albania, Hate Fighters Network (HFN) from Serbia HateFightersNetwork , and Beyond Borders Italy from Italy we conducted national-level research to map existing best practices related to the development and implementation of successful youth-led online campaigns against hate speech.

The findings from these reports were consolidated into a comparative analysis report, which highlighted common trends, successful strategies, challenges, and lessons learned across different national contexts.

Sarajevo is richer for another mural. 🎨

Depicting a portrait of Mica Todorović alongside elements inspired by her paintings, this mural was created as part of the “HERstory” project—an initiative dedicated to raising awareness and visibility of significant female figures through research, urban culture, and creativity.

The team of Obojena Klapa was honoured to present the mural and host a street art workshop. Mica Todorović was not only an exceptional painter, but also a devoted educator who shaped generations of artists in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

That’s a wrap on the Graffiti ABC training course as part of Creative Canvas project 🎨✨

Over an intensive 6 days, our very own Rijad and Draško led an incredible group of 20 young people, youth workers, and educators from our partner organizations through a powerful journey of art and activism.
Together, we put our newly developed Graffiti ABC Guidebook to the test, exploring how creative, non-formal education can become a shield against gender-based discrimination, bullying, cyberbullying, and hate speech. Seeing the participants transform these complex social issues into practical skills for public campaigns and grassroots activism was deeply inspiring.
Huge thanks to all the participants who brought their energy, passion, and vision to the table. 🚀

Youth Centre Perspektiva from Albania together with its partners Hate Fighters Network (HFN) from Serbia, Beyond Borders from Italy and Obojena Klapa from Bosnia and Herzegovina implements a capacity building project “Creative Canvas” to tackle issues of discrimination, hate speech, cyberviolence and gender-based discrimination and violence through creative tools and methods in work with young people. The main aim of the project is separated in two dimensions: a) identifying, consolidating and promoting existing best practices of using art as a tool for activism; and b) creating and enabling an environment to develop new approaches to countering, preventing and fighting cyberbullying, hate speech, discrimination and gender-based violence. Creative Canvas project will be implemented from November 2025 to October 2027, with activities in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and Serbia.
