Could you give a dog one more Day of Hope?

Dogs cannot wait until the end of the month for hope.

They need time to heal, time to trust, and time to keep believing that their family is out there.

That is why we are starting to build July’s 30 Days of Hope.

Every month, we aim to secure 30 Days of Hope for the dogs.

Some months have an extra day, and when they do, that final day still needs covering too.

But 30 Days of Hope is the simple promise we build the month around.

A Day of Hope represents one day of love, safety and care for a dog at Hope VMS Elaine’s Dogs.

Together, those days give the dogs in our care something precious.

More time.

We never again want to reach the end of the month and suddenly start asking for help.

We need your help to start building July’s 30 Days of Hope now, so the dogs already have the time they need before July even begins.

Hope VMS Elaine’s Dogs has no reserve funding, which means every rescue and every day of care depends on Heroes stepping forward when dogs need them.

Here’s how Heroes can help build July:

🐾 £3 - Gives one dog a Day of Hope
🐾 £6 - Gives two dogs a Day of Hope
🐾 £10 - Gives three dogs a Day of Hope
🐾 £25 - Gives one dog a Week of Hope
🐾 £50 - Gives one dog two Weeks of Hope
🐾 £100 - Gives one dog a Month of Hope
🐾 £200 - Gives every Hope dog a Day of Hope

Every gift helps give frightened dogs time to heal, older dogs time to enjoy comfort and kindness, and long-term residents more time to wait for the family they deserve.

Because sometimes all a dog needs is a little more time, and Heroes who make that time possible.

Today, the dogs at Hope VMS Elaine’s Dogs are safe because of you.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

This month’s rent appeal was not easy. It was a struggle, and we know many of you saw how close to the edge we were. Right up until the 11th hour, we still did not know whether we would reach the target.

Without your kindness, we honestly do not know what we would have done.

But once again, our loyal supporters stepped forward when the dogs needed you most. Because of your donations, your shares, your messages and your encouragement, we reached the amount needed for this month’s shelter costs.

That means the dogs still have a safe place to sleep.

It means the shelter doors remain open.

It also means our shelter workers can be paid on time.

That part is sometimes easy to overlook, but it matters deeply. The rent appeal does not only help keep a roof over the dogs’ heads. It also helps pay the wages of the people who care for them every day, feeding them, cleaning, comforting frightened dogs, treating wounds, giving medication, and making sure no dog is forgotten.

Like everyone else, our shelter workers depend on receiving their wages on time so they can pay their own bills and look after their own families.

Your support helps protect the dogs, but it also helps protect the people who care for them.

Towards the end of the campaign, many of you will have seen Orion, one of the dogs whose home was depending on this appeal. His story helped remind us what this was really about. Not just a bill. Not just a deadline. But real dogs, like Orion, who need the shelter to still be there tomorrow.

Every donation, whether large or small, became part of something real:

A safe kennel.

A full food bowl.

A worker paid for their long days of care.

A frightened dog given another night of safety.

A shelter still standing when it came so close to not being enough.

We never take your generosity for granted. We know times are difficult for many people, and we know that every donation is a choice made with kindness.

Thank you for choosing Hope.

Thank you for standing with the dogs.

Thank you for helping us reach the target when it really mattered.

Because this month proved something again.

Hope has heroes.

And when the dogs needed you most, you were there.

With love and gratitude,

Maya & Sanela

Look at these three.

They do not know what rent is. They do not know that every single month, before we can buy food, before we can pay the vet, before we can rescue another dog, we have to somehow find €2,180 just to keep this shelter standing around them.

They only know they have grass under their paws, safe kennels to sleep in and people who will not hurt them.

Hope VMS Elaine’s Dogs has no reserve funding. Every rescue, every vet visit and every monthly bill is only possible because supporters donate when the need arises.

That safety costs €73 a day. June starts in two days, and right now we still do not have the shelter rent covered.

Every month we run a shelter rent appeal, not because we want to, but because without it none of this exists. Not the kennels. Not the outdoor space. Not the place where dogs like these three get to simply breathe, rest and feel safe for another day.

These dogs may look peaceful lying on the grass, but their future still depends entirely on whether we can keep this shelter open through June.

This month's Shelter Rent Appeal runs from 30th May to 10th June 2026.

If you have ever looked at a rescue dog and felt something in your heart, this is where that feeling matters. It becomes the roof above them. The secure gate protecting them. The clean bedding. The water bowls. The safety they never had before.

We are trying to cover June's rent in time so we can continue saying yes to the next dog who arrives frightened, abandoned or injured at our gates.

If you can help today, no amount is too small.

€12 feeds every dog here tonight.
€45 covers electricity and water for one week.
€73 keeps the entire shelter open for 24 hours.

Whatever you give, it lands directly here, on this grass, inside these kennels and into the lives of dogs who still need us.

And if donating is not possible right now, please share this post. Every share gives these dogs another chance to be seen by someone who may be able to help.

June’s rent appeal is now open. Let’s get these dogs safely through another month together.

Thank You.

I almost scrolled past his photo too.

Just another stray dog on another roadside.

But then I saw his eyes.

This poor soul had been hit by a car, left bleeding, terrified and alone, while also carrying a huge untreated tumour that had clearly caused him pain for a very long time.

And somehow... he’s still fighting.

His name is Chupko, and tonight a rescue shelter in Bosnia is desperately trying to keep him alive.

I’m asking you, please, don’t scroll past him.

Even the smallest donation could help pay for the emergency treatment that is giving this sweet boy a chance to survive.

Read his story below. I promise you’ll never forget him.

He may not survive without today’s care. Will you help us save him? … Hope VMS Elaine's Dogs needs your support for EMERGENCY VET CARE FOR POOR CHUPKO ❤️

A Dog Sits Waiting

A dog sits waiting in the cold autumn sun,
Too faithful to leave, too frightened to run.
She's been here for days now with nothing to do
But sit by the road...waiting for you.

She can't understand why you left her that day
She thought you and she were stopping to play.
She's sure you'll come back, and that's why she stays
How long will she suffer...how many more days?

Her legs have grown weak, her throat's parched and dry.
She's sick now with hunger and falls, with a sigh.
She lays down her head and closes her eyes.
I wish you could see how a waiting dog dies.

But there is still hope to be saved from this fate
To be rescued and recovered from this pitiful state.
With gentle hands and soothing touch
We treat her wounds, no care too much.

A tasty meal gives her strength to wag her tail and turn her head
She looks at us kindly as we put her to bed.
The weeks pass by and we manage her pain
She's taken for walks and plays once again.

But staying in rescue isn't quite right
She dreams of a family to be with her at night.
Although surrounded by love and no longer alone
She still sits waiting in the hope of a home.

Poem written by Kathy Flood and Ella Carpenter

Every dog deserves the chance to finally feel safe, loved and at home.

The dogs in our shelter are not broken. They are simply waiting for someone kind enough to show them that life can be gentle again.

And when that happens, this is what you see, peaceful sleep, trusting hearts and happy souls.

If you are thinking about adopting, we would love to hear from you. A rescued dog may just become the best friend you ever have.

TO MY RESCUE DOG

There’s no need to flinch when I lift my hand
No need to cower each time I stand
No need to run when I come near
No need to tremble - I see your fear.

You can sleep with both eyes shut,
Don’t need to jump when you wake up.
Your food is yours to eat in peace
No need to fight to keep your feast

You don’t need to lie upon a hard floor
The beds and sofas are yours to explore
Don’t need to sit out in the rain
The house is your shelter, your new domain.

I cannot erase the memories and fears
I can’t compensate for the wasted years
All I have is what you see
But I give you it all and I give you me.

I give you these arms to comfort and hold
I give you this voice for the joys you’ll be told
I give you my heart and abundance of love
I give you my soul and I hope it’s enough.
