Kroz predstavljanje priručnika „We are the change“ imali smo priliku čuti ideje, iskustva i preporuke mladih nastale kroz fokus grupe i njihov aktivni angažman.

Our partners from Building the Balkans hosted a local training visit in Mitrovica, Kosovo, within the Erasmus+ project SocEntYwD, Capacity Building in Youth Work for Social Entrepreneurship of Youngsters with Disabilities. 🌍

Project partners from Croatia and Serbia joined the BtB team for a programme of knowledge exchange, with visits to the Center for Social Work, the Employment Office, the Association of the Deaf in Mitrovica, and the NGO REC. 🤝

The focus was on understanding the local context and exploring how youth work can support the inclusion of young people with disabilities in employment, self-employment and social entrepreneurship.

The insights gathered will inform the next stages of the project and help us develop practical tools for youth workers. 💡

Peace is learned, built, and passed on. 🌍

Today, on the International Day of Peace, we are reminded that peace is more than the absence of conflict. It is built through dialogue, understanding different experiences, mutual trust, and a willingness to listen to one another.

This is precisely what DANUBE PEACE works towards a project that brings together people, organisations, and communities from five countries across the Danube region with the aim of strengthening peace education and creating spaces for dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding.

Through research and mapping of existing initiatives, the development of educational materials and digital tools, and by connecting educators, cultural actors, and local communities, DANUBE PEACE seeks to transform experiences and good practices from different contexts into knowledge that can be applied in other communities.

Because peacebuilding does not always begin with major changes. It begins with a conversation, with learning to understand one another, and with creating spaces where differences can become a basis for connection rather than division.

On the International Day of Peace, we continue to build peace through education, dialogue, and collective action. 🕊️

DANUBE PEACE strengthens adult educators, cultural actors and communities through inclusive and intergenerational peace education rooted in the shared heritage of the Danube region and common European values.

🌍 Mostar will soon bring together youth workers from across Europe to explore an increasingly important question: what role can youth work play in strengthening democracy and responding to growing polarisation?

We are happy to see “All In” coming to Mostar, creating space for exchange, learning and reflection while also connecting international participants with local initiatives and experiences from our community.

📅 Applications are open until 6 September.

More information in the original post below. 👇

🌍 Can youth work strengthen democracy in times of growing polarisation?

Across Europe, democratic values are increasingly under pressure, and public discourse is becoming more divided. At the same time, youth work finds itself at a crossroads. What is the ethical and political role of youth work today beyond supporting young people's individual life skills?

Join "All In", an international seminar in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing together youth work practitioners who want to explore these questions, exchange experiences, and develop practical responses for their local communities.

During the seminar, participants will:
🔹 explore current democratic trends and their impact on young people and youth work;;
🔹 learn from inspiring practices and honestly reflect on what has and has not worked so far;
🔹 strengthen their approaches to promoting democratic values through youth work;
🔹 develop concrete follow-up actions for their local communities;
🔹 become part of a supportive network of practitioners committed to democracy.

📍 The programme includes visits to local initiatives in Mostar, offering a unique opportunity to learn how communities with complex histories are building democratic futures through youth work and youth participation.

👥 The seminar is open to youth work practitioners who work directly with young people and are committed to strengthening democratic values in their local context.

📅 Apply now and join colleagues from across Europe in shaping the future of youth work and democracy! The link to the call for participants and application form is in the comments below. The application closes on 6 September.

What does peace education look like in a community that has experienced conflict? 🕊️

As part of the DANUBE PEACE project, SPIN/Okret spoke with Huso Razić, school pedagogue and Deputy Head of the High School in Stolac, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Stolac still carries the visible consequences of the 1990s conflicts, including within education, but Huso’s experience shows what happens when schools open space for young people to meet, communicate and learn beyond existing divisions.

We talked about divisive political narratives, critical thinking and active citizenship, cultural heritage as a bridge rather than a barrier, intergenerational dialogue, trauma and reconciliation, and how schools, NGOs and communities can work together more effectively. 🤝

One message stood out: digital tools can support peace education, but real peacebuilding still depends on human encounters, trust and safe spaces for dialogue. 💬
