Meet the CODEBIO partners. 🤝

Based in Fier, Albania, Rakip Kryeziu Vocational High School offers education across several professional fields, including agriculture, veterinary studies and food technology. Its programmes provide students with specialised knowledge and practical skills for employment in agriculture, agrifood production and other sectors relevant to the regional economy.

The school has strengthened its approach to agricultural education through initiatives connecting vocational learning with innovation, local businesses and developments across agrifood value chains. Its experience includes practice-based learning, digital approaches to agricultural production and training related to food quality.
By combining vocational education with practical applications and cooperation beyond the classroom, the school helps students understand contemporary production processes and prepare for the changing expectations of employers.

➡️ Within CODEBIO, Rakip Kryeziu Vocational High School contributes to the co-development and testing of the new training modules. Drawing on its experience with learners and vocational programmes, the school will help adapt the content for classroom use and support pilot training in Albania, ensuring that the modules respond to both educational priorities and labour market needs.

♻️ Kada višak hrane dobije novu vrijednost

Kako ostatke hrane pretvoriti u nove proizvode, organski otpad u kompost, a učenje o cirkularnoj ekonomiji u praktično iskustvo?

Odgovor je ponuđen kroz “Corfu Circular Food Initiative”, pilot aktivnost u okviru CIRCUS projekta koja je održana 15. maja na Krfu.

🍋 Od viška i “nesavršenog“ voća i povrća nastali su džemovi i čatniji.

♻️ Organski otpad upotrijebljen je za kompostiranje.

🌱 Smanjenje bacanja hrane dovodi do održivijih navika.

🎓 Više od 100 učenika usvojilo je znanje kroz praktično iskustvo.

🤝 Škole, javne institucije, lokalni proizvođači, ugostitelji, stanovnici i volonteri udružili su se u zajedničku akciju.

Ova projektna aktivnost rezultirala je inicijativom za nastavak saradnje kroz eksperimentalnu proizvodnju džemova i čatnija od hrane koja bi inače bila bačena. 💚

Mihal Shahini Agricultural High School is based in Cërrik, Albania, and provides education in agriculture, veterinary studies and agricultural technology. Since beginning its educational activities in 1968, the school has prepared generations of students for careers in agriculture and related sectors.

The school combines theoretical education with practical learning, supported by its own farmland and modern laboratory facilities. Its programmes are designed to connect education with employment and self-employment opportunities while responding to technological developments and the changing needs of the labour market.

Recognising the importance of practical, up-to-date vocational education, Mihal Shahini Agricultural High School works to strengthen cooperation with businesses and equip students with the knowledge and skills required by regional and European labour markets.

➡️ Within CODEBIO, Mihal Shahini Agricultural High School leads the development of the curriculum and training materials, bringing together best practices, case studies and digital learning resources. The school will also support pilot training in Albania, helping ensure that the new modules are relevant, practical and adaptable to formal VET programmes.

💡 U okviru projekta CIRCUS, u italijanskom gradu Trikaze sprovedena je sjajna radionica. Djeca u dvije osnovne škole pratila su nastanak otpada u kantinama, učila o lokalnim lancima snabdijevanja i sezonskoj hrani, a zatim osmislila vlastitu igru memorije za koju su sami napravili kartice. 🧠🍎

Inicijativa je realizovana uz učešće nastavnika, nutricionista i istraživača, te naučnu podršku Odjeljenja za poljoprivredne i prehrambene nauke Univerziteta u Bolonji.

📊 Rezultati u školskoj kantini govore sve :

• Potrošnja voća skočila je sa 22,3% na 39,8%!
• Otpad glavnog jela smanjen je sa 24,5% na 16,1%.

🌍 Ekološka ušteda po kilogramu pripremljene hrane:

🌱 0,162 kg CO2 -ekvivalenta
💧 0,293 m3 vode
⚡ 3,069 MJ energije

Following research in Albania, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, CODEBIO partners have translated identified skills needs into a seven-module curriculum for regenerative, resilient and digital agri-bio production.

The survey showed a strong need for practical training, so the curriculum includes assignments connected to real farm and agribusiness contexts. Digitalisation emerged as a key driver of future skills, reflected in a dedicated Digital Tools module and the use of digital tools throughout the curriculum.

The survey also pointed to the need for stronger competences in quality standards and documentation, circular production practices and labour-market alignment. These findings are reflected in modules covering Quality, Documentation & Compliance, Circular Bio-Production & Waste Valorisation, and Business, Innovation & Market Access.

Meet the CODEBIO partners. 🤝

CERD (Centre for Economic and Rural Development) is a non-profit organisation from Bosnia and Herzegovina dedicated to advancing sustainable rural and economic development. Through its work, CERD supports rural communities and agricultural development by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, social development, and environmental sustainability. Its approach is built on cooperation between the public sector, private sector, civil society, and educational institutions. Its expertise includes regenerative agriculture, sustainable food systems, circular economy, and organic and biodynamic farming, demonstrated through its own educational Domestica Farm.

➡️ Within the CODEBIO project, CERD contributes to the development of the Capacity Building Toolbox, the piloting and finalisation of the curriculum and training methodology, and the design and implementation of micro-credentials for vocational education and training. CERD also supports pilot training activities for students and practitioners, helping evaluate and refine the project's learning materials and teaching approaches based on participant and expert feedback.

Through these activities, CERD helps ensure that the project's training solutions are practical, flexible, and aligned with the needs of vocational education providers, learners, and the agri-bio sector across the Western Balkans.

CODEBIO razvija novi program obuke za regenerativnu, otpornu i digitalnu agri-bio proizvodnju, zasnovan na stvarnim potrebama sektora.

Kurikulum donosi sedam ključnih oblasti:

Cilj je jednostavan, a to je više praktičnog učenja, više digitalnih kompetencija i znanja koja se mogu primijeniti u stvarnom radu.

Kroz CODEBIO kurikulum potrebe identifikovane istraživanjem pretvaramo u konkretne prilike za učenje i razvoj vještina. 🌍
