Our Hope Community team partnered with JRS BiH to host a special event of the World Day for Migrants and Refugees. This year, the Pope addressed Matthew 18:5 as the theme, focusing on the protection and dignity of vulnerable migrant and refugee minors.

“Whoever accepts a little child like this in my name is accepting me.”

A local high school came and joined our afternoon of activities and community building. It was a great way not only in invest more into relationships with minors on the move, but also with our local community.

Sharing food and home at Hope!

New friends from camp blessed us this week by preparing a meal from their home. This food that we enjoyed together was shared with over 20 people at Hope Community who we were able to invite for games, food, and a time of prayer and worship for those who wanted to join.

Anyone watching the World Cup??

Football, or soccer, has been a unifying part of the warmer months at Home Community and our work with the men’s camp. Several players from World Cup teams share the story of forced displacement to resettlement, including Bosnia. From pick-up games to watching the World Cup together, we get to see how sports transcend circumstance and showcases the gifts and talents of people on the move.

In honor of World Refugee Day, Hope Community teamed up with JRS BiH to host an outdoor event for guest from the men’s camp. It is a day to raise awareness and acknowledge the resilience of people we meet around the world who experience forced displacement. This past Thursday we did so by enjoying volleyball, football, and delicious food in the grill together as a community. It may just be one day for a long journey ahead, but we are grateful to walk alongside however long we can.
