📣 Dear friends,
The team representing ADA University at 14th edition of one of the flagship projects annually conducted by ELSA International - Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition, took 2nd place among 22 teams in the Regional Rounds of this competition, organized by ELSA Malta in Valetta, Malta, 27 February - 1 March, 2026. The team got the Runner-Up Diploma which granted them a seat to participate in the Final Oral Round which will be held in Strasbourg, before European Court of Human Rights.
The team members were the students of ADA School of Law Aydan Mehdiyeva, Banovsha Abbasova, Mahira Huseynli and Nigar Huseynova.
We express our congratulations to the administration and academic staff of ADA University’s School of Law and the team for that historical achievement!!
The competition is organized by ELSA International. It simulates the complaint procedures to the European Court of Human Rights, with the Final Round being held annually at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France. The competition is named after Helga Pedersen, a Danish lawyer and politician who made history as the first female judge appointed to the European Court of Human Rights in 1971.
The competition consists of three stages: Memorial (written), Regional Rounds (Oral Pleading stage), and the Final Round. To advance to the oral pleading stage, teams must successfully complete the written stage. The Final Stage will be held among 18 teams that have successfully passed to the 3rd stage, at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, 1-6 June, 2026.
