Musica Viva Australia is proud to be Platinum Partner at ASME Victoria's Sound Connections: Victorian State Music Education Conference 2026 on 30 September & 1 October.

We’ll be bringing two workshops to the program, with Catherine Threlfall exploring social and sensory learning through music, and MVA Creative Development Manager Isobel Ferrier joining the musicians from Imagination Exploration to explore the show and our Education Resource Platform.

With support from the Besen Family Foundation, we’re also offering 10 x $500 bursaries to help primary school music educators from regional Victoria attend the conference.

Say hello to Back to the Roots - one of two new shows touring in 2027. Featuring a dynamic trio of multi-instrumentalists, Back to the Roots combines traditional instruments such as the zheng (traditional Chinese plucked zither) and mridangam (double-sided hand drum) with contemporary styles and original compositions, the ensemble weaves together diverse musical influences to create a sound that is fresh, distinctive and deeply personal. The show also features konnakol – the South Indian art of vocal percussion; offering students a fascinating insight into the rhythmic language and traditions of Carnatic music.

Students will explore how music reflects culture and identity, experiment with blending musical styles, and learn unique systems of understanding the elements of music. Rich in texture and storytelling, Back to the Roots celebrates the power of music to shape and share who we are.

A huge thank you to Jenny Eriksson and The Marais Project for their incredible generosity and support of Musica Viva Australia In Schools.

The recent launch of Exquisite Harmonies, the latest album from The Marais Project, raised an incredible $2,200 for Musica Viva Australia In Schools.

Jenny, Susie Bishop and Anthony Abouhamad generously donated their time to make the fundraiser possible, a wonderful gesture from artists with such a long and meaningful connection to our Schools program. Jenny has been part of the program for more than 38 years, making her support especially meaningful as we celebrate the 45th year of MVAIS.

Thank you for continuing to share your music, your time and your passion with the next generation.
