A copy of the Proposed New Constitution, Explanatory Summary to the Constitution, and Minutes of the Last AGM was sent via email yesterday to all YOMCSI members for review prior to the meeting.

If you are a financial YOMCSI Member and have not received the email, please contact us at [email protected] to request a copy.

A hard copy of the documents will also be available at the Yowah Library for YOMCSI members only who wish to photocopy them at their own cost. A signature will be required when accessing the documents.

We encourage all members to read through the documents before the AGM, particularly the proposed changes to the Constitution.

Your attendance and participation are greatly appreciated as we continue working together to support and strengthen our Yowah community.

🪵The Heart Behind the Carvings🪵

If you’ve wandered through the Saturday Yowah Opal Market or past the RTC, chances are you’ve admired the incredible wood carvings created by Robert Davis. Each piece is unique, transforming old tree timber into beautiful carvings filled with character and craftsmanship.

What makes Bob truly remarkable is his generosity. For many years, every sale from his carvings has been donated to our dedicated Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS)—a cause close to the hearts of everyone in the outback.

Bob also generously supports YOMCSI’s Miners & Ladders Raffle, donating his handcrafted carvings to help raise funds for our community.

Every purchase helps support the RFDS, making your souvenir one that truly gives back.❤️

🎸In the outback, the best stories are shared over a cold drink and a good song.🎸

If you’ve spent time in Yowah, chances are you’ve heard Trevor Pickering with his guitar in hand. For years, he’s been turning up at The Miners Bar with his guitar in hand, singing a few tunes, sharing a few laughs, and helping us raise funds for our dedicated RFDS service.

He doesn’t do it for recognition. He does it because he cares about this community.

Trevor is one of many who quietly volunteer, lend a hand, and help keep Yowah’s community spirit alive. To all of you, we thank you. Your generosity is what makes this little outback town so special.

Why not come along to The Miners Bar, open every Wednesday and Saturday. Grab a cold drink, pull up a chair, have a yarn with the locals, and enjoy an afternoon or evening with Trevor as he shares his music and keeps the outback spirit alive.

Every drink, every laugh, and every song helps support our community and our dedicated RFDS.

🔆July shot through faster than a roo across the road.🔆

If you’ve spent the whole month saying, “We’ll get away next weekend,” well… somehow it’s August already.

Good news though—Yowah isn’t going anywhere.

The artesian bore bath is still warm. The opals are still hiding in the dirt, waiting for someone lucky enough to find them. The sunsets are still showing off, and the locals are still happy to point you in the right direction… eventually.😉

So quit scrolling, stop saying “one day,” and make August the month you actually escape the rat race.

Come soak, fossick, wander, yarn with the locals, and remember what it’s like to slow down. We can’t promise you’ll find the million-dollar opal… but you’ll leave with a few good stories and a whole lot less stress.

Yowah’s waiting.

📢Reminder – YOMCSI General Meeting Tomorrow!📢

Just a friendly reminder that our YOMCSI General Meeting will be held tomorrow (Monday) at 10:00am at the YOMCSI Hall.

We’ll also be having a catch-up on this year’s Yowah Opal Festival—what went well, what we can improve, and a chance to share ideas for next year. If you’ve got thoughts, we’d love to hear them!

If you haven’t renewed your 2026–2027 membership, or you’d like to become a new member, you can do so before the meeting.

Membership fees:
• Single – $30
• Couple – $45

Everyone is welcome to attend, and we’d love to see both familiar and new faces.

☕ Morning tea and coffee will be provided after the meeting, so stay for a cuppa and a chat!

Whether you’re a committee member, volunteer, stallholder or local, your feedback is important and helps make our festival even better.

🤠Who says the fun stops when the festival ends?🤠

The Yowah Saturday Market is still going strong every Saturday morning… and we’ll keep rolling until we run out of opals… or tourists! 😜 (Don’t worry—we reckon the opals will outlast us all!)

Get in early, grab a coffee, wander the stalls, have a yarn with the locals, and you might even head home with your very own Yowah Nut opal.

Jacob’s open-air exhibition is standing just across the road from the YOMCSI Hall, waiting for a few more curious wanderers.

So don’t just drive past—pull up, stretch your legs, and go have a proper stickybeak! And before anyone asks… no, it’s not a clothesline someone left stranded in the paddock! That’s art, Yowah-style.

Have a wander through, take it all in and see what catches your eye. If Jacob’s about, stop for a yarn—he’ll happily tell you the stories behind the pieces, and you’ll probably leave seeing the outback a bit differently.
