YADMA Hosts Vibrant Harmony Gala Night 2026
The Young and District Multicultural Association Inc. (YADMA) successfully hosted its annual Harmony Gala Night Dinner on 21 March 2026, in line with the global celebration of Harmony Day. The event brought together the local community for an evening dedicated to celebrating cultural diversity through music, dance, and shared experiences. The success of the event was made possible through the generous support and sponsorship of SWS (South West Slopes) Bank.
Proceedings commenced at 7:00 pm with opening remarks from YADMA Founder, Josie Johnson. The Australian National Anthem was performed by Aria Wallace, followed by a Welcome to Country delivered by Debbie Longhurts. YADMA President Amir Norouzi then formally welcomed guests and participants.
The evening featured a rich program of cultural performances, highlighting the diversity within the community. The Young Filipino Dance Group, led by Michele Gadd, presented traditional Sinulog, Igorot, and Sisiwit dances. Thai cultural performances, led by Kanjana Broekman, Minha and her team, showcased a blend of traditional dance, music, and the use of authentic Vietnamese instruments. A special guest performer Aria Wallace from Canberra also entertained attendees with three musical set.
One of the highlights of the evening was the multicultural fashion parade, which celebrated traditional attire from various cultures. Award recipients included Liam Surilla for Best Multicultural Costume (Male) and Min Ha for Best Multicultural Costume (Female). Additional awards for Best Dressed of the Gala Night Nancy Palma were also presented.
The program continued with a raffle draw, awarding first, second, and third prizes to lucky attendees. Closing remarks were delivered by Minda (Brenda) Mendoza, who acknowledged the contributions of all involved.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, guests participated in a TikTok dance challenge led by Michele Gadd. Amir Norouzi was named TikTok King, while Shekel Gallantes was awarded TikTok Queen. The formalities concluded with the opening of the dance floor for a disco celebration. Hovert Gonzales served as the official Master of Ceremonies for the event.
YADMA officers and members extended their sincere thanks to all volunteers, sponsors, and supporters whose contributions made the event possible. The association looks forward to welcoming the community again for next yearās celebration.
