🌸 York Yorgas – From Our Hands: Session 4 Jewellery Making
Our York Yorgas wrapped up their fourth and final jewellery‑making session for May with the wonderful Aunty Marj Kerkhoff, and what a beautiful way to finish the month.

The women created a full jewellery set — necklace, bracelet and earrings — each piece made with patience, pride, and cultural strength. Their creativity continues to shine through every session.

Please see the images below to view their incredible work.

National Reconciliation Week 2026 – We’re All In
Ballardong Moorditj Program

National Reconciliation Week kicked off today, and this year’s theme — All In — calls every one of us to walk together with purpose, respect, and truth. Reconciliation is not symbolic for our community — it is lived, it is local, and it is carried through our stories, our Elders, and our shared commitment to healing.

The Ballardong Moorditj Program stands proudly with our members, families, and partners across York, Beverley, Northam and Toodyay. Our work — from yarning circles to truth‑telling, from creative workshops to community gatherings — reflects the strength and resilience of Ballardong people and the deep cultural knowledge that continues to guide us.

We also want to acknowledge Jodie Nunn, CEO of Reconciliation WA, for her ongoing support of Ballardong First, our Aboriginal‑led event held in York during the Australia Day weekend for the past three years. Her leadership and commitment have helped elevate our voices, strengthen community connection, and ensure our stories are heard with respect and integrity.

This week, we honour our Elders.
We acknowledge our ancestors.
We celebrate our culture.
And we continue building a future grounded in unity, truth, and action.

This week and every week — we’re All In.

Strong Women. Strong Men. Strong Families. Strong Culture.

🌿 York Yorgas Cultural Visit – Bilya Koort Boodja Centre, Northam 🌿
Today our York Yorgas Women’s Group spent a wonderful day over in Northam at the Bilya Koort Boodja Centre for Nyoongar Culture and Environmental Knowledge. 💛

We were warmly welcomed by a local elder, who shared a heartfelt Welcome to Country and guided us through a cultural tour of the centre — weaving stories of Ballardong Country, language, and connection to place. 🌾

It was a beautiful opportunity for the women to learn, reflect, and celebrate the strength of our culture together.

We’re so grateful for the generosity and the Bilya Koort Boodja team for hosting us. 🌸

A few photos from our day are below — full of smiles, learning, and connection. 💬✨
