🐐🌿 A little paddock adventure with Dolly! 🐑💕

Today we took half of our goat gang for a little walk and some fresh grazing in the none-fenced paddock… because goats need adventures too! 😁

And of course, our newest little arrival, baby Dolly, had to come along for the adventure. 🥹🐑❤️

There’s something pretty special about wandering around with a tiny newborn lamb snuggled in your arms while a bunch of cheeky goats happily munch their way around you. 🌿

Just another ordinary day at Pasture Pals… where the paddocks are full, the animals are spoiled, and there’s never a dull moment! 😂🐐🐑

Rupert's Big Adventure 🐑✂️😂

Our big Merino wether Rupert has had a bit of a rough week, but thankfully he’s doing really well! ❤️

On Friday, Rupert underwent surgery to have his tail amputated for health reasons. He handled everything like the absolute champ he is, and he’s now happily back home, grazing with his friends and recovering nicely. 🥰🌱

A huge THANK YOU to Dr Jenny Muller and her wonderful team at Camden Uni Vets for their fantastic skills, care and compassion while looking after our big boy. We’re so grateful! ❤️

But… Rupert being Rupert, he couldn’t possibly just behave himself while staying overnight at the clinic. 😂

Around 6pm, Rupert apparently decided that he had served enough time and let himself out for a little evening stroll around the clinic. 🤣🐑

And where did he eventually end up?

In Jenny’s office. 😂

Because obviously, if you’re going to escape from the vet clinic, you may as well go straight to the vet herself to let her know you’re free!

“Hi Jenny… just thought I’d let you know I’ve discharged myself.” 😂😂

Thankfully, Rupert was safely rounded up and spent the rest of the night where he was supposed to be.

Now he’s back home with his mates, enjoying the sunshine, plenty of grass and hopefully NO MORE SURPRISE ADVENTURES for a little while! 😂❤️

Maggie's Little Surprise 🥹💕

Well… turns out our little Maggie had a secret! 😂🐐

We’ve had Maggie with us for about 3 months. She’s still such a young girl, and because she had been on her own for a little while, we honestly didn’t think anything was up.

Until 4am on Saturday morning…

I was outside checking on one of our other pregnant does when I heard something…

A tiny little “MAAAAA!” coming from the communal paddock. 👀

So, of course, I went to investigate…

And there was Maggie… with a TINY buck kid by her side! 😳🥹❤️

Somehow, we completely missed that Maggie was pregnant. We didn’t notice her bagging up, we didn’t see any obvious signs, and apparently this little lady had decided she was going to keep her pregnancy a secret right up until the very end! 😂

And what makes it even more beautiful is that Maggie is being an absolutely brilliant mum. ❤️

She’s attentive, protective and completely smitten with her little boy.

Welcome to the world, little man! 🥰🐐

And Maggie… you really could have given us a little warning! 😂❤️

🐐🐑 PASTURE PALS RESIDENTS LOOKING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOMES 🏡❤️ UPDATED!

We’ve had some new rescues added to our rehoming list, so our collage now features even more of the beautiful goats and sheep in our care who are looking for their very own approved pet homes. ❤️

Our residents range from approximately 12 weeks old (weaned) through to 5 years old, with very different personalities, needs and levels of mischief! 😂

These animals aren't looking for a quick backyard addition — we're looking for loving, committed homes where they'll be part of the family for life.

🏡 ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

✔️ Approved pet home only
✔️ Property/home inspection before they leave Pasture Pals
✔️ Secure, suitable fencing
✔️ Safe, weatherproof shelter
✔️ Access to clean, fresh water at all times
✔️ Suitable pasture/forage and appropriate feed
✔️ Appropriate mineral supplementation
✔️ A suitable companion — sheep and goats are social animals and should not live alone
✔️ Access to appropriate veterinary care
✔️ Commitment to ongoing care including hoof care, parasite management and shearing where required
✔️ A genuine commitment to providing a safe, loving forever home

🍼 BOTTLE BABIES

Our bottle-raised lambs are only available to experienced homes who understand the additional commitment, care and responsibility involved in raising a bottle baby. They aren't suitable for first-time sheep owners simply wanting a cute little lamb. ❤️

🚫 NO PETTING ZOOS

We do not sell or rehome our animals to petting zoos or travelling animal exhibits.

Our rescue animals have already experienced enough change and stress, and we believe they deserve stable, permanent homes where their wellbeing comes first. We don't support a lifestyle where animals are continually transported, handled by large numbers of people or potentially moved on once they become too big or less “cute”.

❤️ AND ONE VERY IMPORTANT RULE…

If life circumstances ever change and you can no longer keep your Pasture Pals resident, they come back to us. They are never to be sold, surrendered or passed on without speaking to us first.

We put a huge amount of love, time and care into every animal who comes through our gates, so finding the right match is incredibly important to us.

If you've been thinking about adding some four-legged, woolly or slightly naughty family members to your life, send us a message and tell us a little about your property, your experience with sheep/goats and what you're looking for. 🐐🐑❤️

Suitability and approval will always come before adoption.

❤️ A LITTLE HELP FOR OUR PASTURE PALS 🐐🐑 ❤️

We’re reaching out to our wonderful community because Pasture Pals could use a little extra help right now.

We currently have over 50 goats and 11 sheep in our care, and since moving to just 7 acres, we’re having to rely much more heavily on purchased feed. Our feed bill is now around $110 EVERY DAY, and that doesn’t include milk powder for our precious bottle babies.

On top of that, one of our beautiful sheep residents is about to undergo an operation, bringing another unexpected veterinary expense at a time when our everyday costs are already so high. 💔

These animals rely on us every single day, and we will always do everything we can to make sure they are fed, safe, loved and cared for. ❤️

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it truly makes a difference. And if donating isn’t possible, simply sharing our GoFundMe with your friends and family helps us more than you know.

Please help us keep the bellies full and continue caring for these beautiful animals.

💔 Another mumma and baby who should never have had to go through this…

Yesterday, one of our sheep was returned to us in pretty rough shape.

She was underweight, heavily worm-burdened and lacking essential minerals — and sadly, she had also been bred.

This little ewe is quite small, but she was put to a large Merino ram, resulting in an absolutely enormous lamb for her size. The birth was traumatic, and she had a very difficult time bringing this baby into the world. 💔

She was never meant to be bred in the first place.

Thankfully, after a very stressful start, both mum and bub are doing okay now. 🙏🏻❤️ We're keeping a very close eye on them and giving mum the care, nutrition and minerals she desperately needed.

But sadly, this isn't an isolated case.

We're expecting more sheep to come to us from the same situation, and tragically, one has already arrived, and multiple mums and babies have died over the last few days.

And this is the part that breaks our hearts.

Animals should never be treated as disposable simply because caring for them costs money.

Pregnancy, birth, nutrition, parasite control, minerals and veterinary care are all part of responsible animal husbandry. Sometimes things go wrong despite doing everything right — that's farming and that's life. But when an animal is sick, suffering or struggling to give birth, they deserve veterinary care. They deserve pain relief. They deserve someone to step in.

A life shouldn't be valued by how much money it can make.

And a vet bill should never be the reason an animal is left to suffer. 💔

We're incredibly grateful that this little family is now safe with us, and we're going to do everything we can to give them the chance they deserve. 🐑❤️

Please keep this little mumma and her giant baby in your thoughts while we watch them closely over the coming days.

This is why Pasture Pals exists.
Because every animal deserves to be more than a number, a breeding machine or a dollar sign.

They deserve a life. ❤️
