Capricorn Coast Landcare Group Inc A not-for-profit community group founded in 1987 to address local landcare issues

Capricorn Coast Landcare Inc is a not-for-profit community group founded in 1987 to address Landcare issues in the Fitzroy River Coastal Catchment. Our members are enthusiastic volunteers from diverse backgrounds who care for the land, water, vegetation and wildlife of Queensland's Capricorn Coast. We work for a sustainable landscape by doing, sharing and learning with programs such as Envirolink Information & Resource Centre, Junior Landcare, Revegetation and community information displays.

Some before & after photos of the w**dy areas worked on Konomie yesterday, and photos of the w**d piles. Two of us cleared these areas; we also had one person removing and bagging noxious Mossman Burr and other w**ds. A good days work for a small team.

3 of us went to Konomie to help the P & C with some w**ding around the education centre yesterday. The Curlews were hanging area as usual, and we found a young possum nestled amongst the volunteers bags at lunch time.

Didn't get any before & after photos today after being distracted by welcoming 2 new volunteers, with 2 more interested people taking forms away. . However, a team of 7 removed w**ds from around our recent plantings at MB2, where there is also a good revival of other natives. Photo taken of the rising sun just before we began work. A pretty good work site.

Five of us at Mulambin today, between entrances 2 & 3. The pile of lantana stems was mulched, 2 big bags of noxious w**ds removed and the trailer half filled. Not a bad effort.

This morning 4 of us planted out an area at Mulambin cleared of w**ds last week. Our thanks to Zach from LSC for supplying the plants, helping us to plant them and giving us access to the tank on his ute to water them. The Kookaburras seemed impressed by our work.

Received this in an email from Landcare Australia. I would like to see us nominate someone local, so if you have someone in mind please get in touch and we will look at it:

Do you know an environmental hero who should be recognised?
Help recognise our local environmental heroes by nominating someone for the 2026 State and Territory Landcare Awards! These awards celebrate individuals, groups and organisations protecting Australia’s land, water and ecosystems. They recognise leadership across climate action, sustainable agriculture, First Nations landcare, Coastcare, innovation, youth and women in landcare, and more.

Nominations are free and open to everyone, including self-nominations. It only takes around 10-minutes to submit a nomination and shine a light on the important work happening in communities across the country.

This biennial national program highlights outstanding contributions to environmental care at a local level, helping build a more sustainable future for all Australians.

National category winners will go on to become finalists for the 2027 National Landcare Awards.

Don’t miss out, nominations close 31 July 2026 (ACT closes 14 June 2026).

Got the following message from Containers for Change this afternoon. Our star contributor Don Bambrick, who has exceeded $1500 donations for Landcare in the past 3 years from his container collecting, made this huge contribution in one hit.

"Hi Capricorn Coast Landcare Group Incorporated,
Great news! One of our Change Makers returned 3,601 containers to the Container Refund Capricorn Coast - Yeppoon refund point and donated their $360.10 refund to your cause. What a legend, right?"

Thanks for your amazing contribution to our cause Don
