Interesting Guest Speaker at our meeting yesterday. Mary Mansfield to let us know about the service provided by St Vincents De Paul in Yarrawonga. Mary thanked us for our recent donation and talked about the Assistance Centre in Witt Street and how they work with the Shop in Belmore Street to help the Yarrawonga Mulwala community. Over $80k worth of goods and food was distributed in our area last year. This year will be similar. Well done to Mary and the volunteers

Helping Students. This morning a team of ten Lions from Lake Mulwala, Cobram and Wangaratta went to Mulwala Public School and tested the eyesight of most of the children enrolled there. With the high tech and well designed testing aids it is possible to detect problem with long or short sightedness, astigmatism and colour blindness. If problems are detected the school can let parents know so that further help can be gained for the child. The students enjoyed the fifteen minute testing session which is designed to make it easy for children to participate and gain a small reward at the end. They can choose a word puzzle sheet, stickers, colouring in posters or bookmarks. A good outcome for all.

Our day at Yarrawonga Mulwala Ag Show was very successful and worthwhile. Our sponsorship of the Club craft exhibits resulted in 6 very high quality entries. Winners were Uniting Church Group with CWA coming second. The award for best article went to a beautifully sewn and presented quilt in the Yarrawonga Lions Turban Angels exhibit. Good to be able to help to contribute to our community's show and create a display which is much admired.
Our Devonshire Teas, sandwiches and slices served in the Rotary Club rooms proved very popular with the crowd who were full of complements for the delicious fare. Members teamed well together to make and serve the sandwiches etc. Lots of work but lots of fun.

LIONS HELPING THE HOSPITAL
The Lions Club of Lake Mulwala have made another donation to Yarrawonga Health's Community Heart Appeal. They were pleased to be able to present the hospital with a further $1000 from funds raised recently. Jo Spence, Community Engagement Manager at the Yarrawonga Hospital presented members with a Certificate of Appreciation and advised that they are getting closer to the Appeal's $1m target having raised $750,000 to date towards fitting out their new facilities with essential equipment. Jo suggested that members view the new area paved with tiles donated by the community. She also urged members to consider volunteering at Yarrawonga Health. They are always looking out for people with different interests who would like to be part of their programs with residents. A great way to give to an important local service.
