In Logan, Maternal and Child Health (MACH) Hubs provide culturally safe, locally delivered care for families from pregnancy through to early parenting.
And we’re seeing the impact.

MACH Hubs are one of the evidence-based initiatives within Logan’s First 2000 Days Model - helping create a connected system of support around children and families from the very beginning.

More people across Logan are talking about what children’s brains need to thrive - and that matters. 💛

Brain Building is Logan’s shared language for brain development – based on science, but reflecting how community speaks, feels and connects.

Brain Building is growing beyond a campaign.

Families, community members, organisations and services are building a shared understanding of just how important a child’s earliest experiences are to their brain – and the role we all play in shaping them.

📍Here in Yarrabilba and Logan Village, local community members, schools and services are coming together to explore how we can share Brain Building messages and create more opportunities for children and families to put them into practice. We’d love to hear from you if you’d like to be part of the conversation. We have some exciting ideas emerging already!

More than 50 organisations have already joined the Brain Building movement across Logan, alongside thousands of people engaging with Brain Building messages.

But this isn’t just about knowing more.

It’s about using that knowledge to create communities where children and families are supported – in our homes, neighbourhoods, services and the decisions that affect their lives.
When more people understand what children’s brains need to thrive, we strengthen the collective voice for making those needs a priority.

And that’s how knowledge can become action. 💛

🚑 First Aid Skills Matter! ❤️

It was wonderful to have the Queensland Ambulance Service team from the Yarrabilba station visit Baby Time, facilitated by Lisa at The Salvation Army Communities for Children (CFC), Logan, on Wednesdays at Family and Community Place.

The team shared some valuable information about the importance of keeping our First Aid skills up to date, particularly when caring for little ones. It was a fantastic morning filled with insightful learning, fun and plenty of laughter! 👶❤️

For families interested in completing a First Aid course locally, Australia Wide First Aid is offering courses at The Buzz Yarrabilba Community Centre - powered by YMCA.

A great opportunity to build confidence and practical skills close to home.

FEEL GOOD FUTURES 💛

Our community is helping shape what healthier futures could look like for Logan's children.

Over the past few months, people from across Logan have come together through Feel Good Futures Logan to explore what makes it easier - or harder - for children and families to eat well, move, play and thrive.

Members of our Strong Beginnings community have been actively involved in these conversations, sharing their local knowledge, experiences and insights; providing valuable context around what could best support our children and families.

Together, more than 70 ideas were generated, explored and refined into a Package of 7 Local Solutions for Logan.

The important part?
These solutions aren't being designed for community from somewhere else.
They're being designed with community, using local experience alongside evidence about what works around the world.

The next stage will take that even further, with Local Solutions tailored to the needs of each unique Focus Community through community-led governance.

We’re excited to see how this unfolds across Yarrabilba and Logan Village. Our community highlighted the importance of health-related quality of life for our children and families, and we look forward to embedding the local solutions.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲? 💛

We asked Community Connectors across Logan – and their answers capture what this work is really about.

It’s listening. Building trust. Sharing knowledge. Making connections. And being there alongside families and community.

📍 Here in Yarrabilba and Logan Village, we have strong local services, organisations and community members doing important work alongside families. But unlike some other parts of Logan, our community does not currently have dedicated Community Connector capacity.

That’s a gap we want to change.

Community Connectors can play an important role in helping families navigate services, find support and connect with what they need – while also listening to community and helping identify what’s working, what’s missing and where systems can respond better.

They are a critical part of 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥, supporting families to access the information, supports and services they need for their child to thrive in their first 2000 days, and beyond.

For Yarrabilba and Logan Village, there is a real opportunity to establish dedicated Community Connector capacity locally – strengthening the bridge between families, community, services and the broader system.

💛 And we’re looking for organisations who can help make that happen.

✨ What a wonderful night celebrating local business! ✨

On Friday night, I had the privilege of accompanying Chyerl Pridham, Principal at LJ Ho**er Flagstone - Flagstone and President of Logan Village & Districts Community Centre, to the Logan Chamber of Commerce Business Distinction Awards.

It was a fantastic evening recognising and celebrating the outstanding businesses and entrepreneurs across Logan. It was especially wonderful to see Yarrabilba and Logan Village put firmly on the map, with local businesses taking out three award categories, as well as a major award! 🏆
