🚗 If it happens:
Stay calm, ease off the accelerator, steer gently, and let your tyres regain traction.

🛣️ To prevent it:
Slow down, keep your tyres in good condition, avoid standing water, and stay in control (no cruise control in the rain).

🎬🚑 Becoming an Ambulance Officer for the South Australian Ambulance Service is an absolute honour. Becoming a professional Defib-fluencer? I’m still working on that 🫣😛

I can run a code, handle a trauma, and navigate Adelaide traffic in peak hour with lights and sirens. But asking me to look directly into a camera and speak normally? Absolute flatline. ✨🙏😂

This is a fascinating look at the hands-on training we get as volunteers. By studying the anatomy of the heart and how blockages or trauma occur, we are better prepared to help our community. 🎓

Becoming a volunteer with SAAS often involves hands-on training. Recently, our Yankalilla volunteer team took part in a practical training night, using lamb hearts to better understand chest trauma and blood flow.

You don’t need prior experience to become a SAAS volunteer, just a willingness to learn and curiosity!

🛡️ Serving Others Starts with Self-Care 🛡️

Last night, our team stepped back from the sirens to focus on the mind. Our latest training session was dedicated to Mental Health & First Responder Wellness.

We dove deep into how we can better support patients in crisis through empathy-led de-escalation, while also tackling the reality of the job: burnout is real.

The takeaway? We can’t provide care to our community if we aren't caring for ourselves and each other. From "decompression rituals" to SAAS’s amazing peer support team, we’re committed to staying mentally sharp and emotionally resilient.
