We're excited to show this magnificent film at Yandoit Cultural this Friday 4 October at 7pm. Trailer and details below:

The Road to Patagonia is a stunning, intimate and unflinching series of love letters within a documentary - firstly, a love between two people, and secondly between humanity and the Earth. Ecologist Matty Hannon begins an incredible solo adventure, to surf the west coast of the Americas by motorbike, from the top of Alaska to the tip of Patagonia. But deep in the wilderness - alone with the wolves and the bears - the journeyer’s plans unexpectedly fall to pieces. After losing everything, and on the cusp of quitting he meets the girl of his dreams, a permaculture farmer named Heather. Shot over 16 years, the result is an adventurous exposé on the more-than-human-world, offering a physical and spiritual odyssey to better understand our place in Nature.

This Sunday 2 June, Yandoit Cultural will again host a screening as part of this year’s Central Victorian Indigenous Film Festival.

We will start at 4:45pm with a smoking ceremony, prepared by Yandoit resident Erica Higgins. This will be followed by a series of short films, created by Auntie Julie McHale and produced by local filmmakers People Pictures, featuring local indigenous youth and teachers on Djaara Country sharing knowledge and secrets of Australian bush foods.

Our feature film is The Last Daughter:
After being raised by a white family, a young girl is taken away and returned to the Aboriginal family she didn’t know. Decades later, she’s on a journey to discover where she truly belongs.

Join us at 4:45pm for a 5:00pm start on Sunday 2 June for some exceptional story-telling, and stay for a cuppa and debrief after the film.
