Hi all,
Fire Season dates have been announced.

Lower South East Fire Ban District will commence on 1st November 2026 and will end on 30th of April 2027.

For the do’s and dont’s please refer to CFS website for more information. www.cfs.sa.gov.au

Finally if you have any burn piles etc please don’t leave it to the last day/weekend as we get a spike in calls each year from people who leave it to the last minute when the weather is not favourable.
Don’t be that person!

Further to earlier post on the use of a fire blanket a demonstration was done on the effect of water being put on an oil fire.
This is a what Not to do!

Tonight we demonstrated the use and effectiveness of a fire blanket on a burning pot or pan. A $10 item can save a kitchen fire.

Well done to Nathalia on completing her SCBA (structural firefighting) course today.
This brings Yahl CFS structural fire fighter numbers to 11 (nearly 50% of total members) with 5 females included.

Yahl has a membership of 30% females and we are looking for more members to join if any Yahl locals or persons living on Yahl side of Mount Gambier are interested send us a message.

Fire crews, including this CFS crew stationed at Generations in Jazz, are responding to a fire at Yahl.

At 12:11pm, crews were called to Hill Road at Yahl with reports of a burn-off burning out of control.
