Meet Max Finlayson, a 72-year-old dynamo and Secretary of the Victorian Men’s Shed Association, who embodies a spirit of adventure and dedication. With 25 years by Mariagrazia's side, Max has two sons making waves abroad, and a grandchild named Daisy brings boundless joy. His furry and feathered family includes two lively springer spaniel x English setter crosses, a discerning cat named Professor Frederick, three inquisitive alpacas, and four productive chooks. After a fulfilling career that took him from university campuses in Perth and Townsville to the world stage, Max joined the shed in 2020, bringing with him a wealth of experience as a water quality inspector, aquatic ecologist, and research professor. With a portfolio that includes working with non-governmental environmental groups across Europe and Eastern Africa, and as a research professor at Charles Sturt University, Max's journey is a testament to his passion for positive impact. When not saving the world, Max enjoys writing, exploring nature through bushwalking and camping, and playing sports. Highlights of his life include a memorable meeting with Prince Charles and witnessing history unfold during the attempted coup against Mikhail Gorbachev, fueling his commitment to making a difference.

Meet the extraordinary Wilf Smithyman. Born on the remarkable day of 4th March 1943 in Malawi, Africa, Wilf's journey unfolded with purpose.
By 1945, his family had already embarked on a new adventure in Rhodesia. Following in his father's footsteps, Wilf's father was a pioneering farmer who cultivated the art of To***co farming.
Wilf himself was educated in Rhodesia's finest schools and Agricultural college, laying the foundation for his future endeavors.
A gap year transformed into a four-year odyssey as Wilf embarked on a thrilling working trip around the world. Upon his return, he devoted 31 years to expanding his father's legacy in to***co farming.
Love blossomed, and Wilf married Vivienne, an Irish beauty, and together they had three wonderful daughters who now call Australia home. Though challenges arose, Wilf demonstrated unwavering resilience when their farm in Zimbabwe was lost to illegal land occupation, prompting a bold move to Australia in 2003.
Undeterred, Wilf spent eight fruitful years avocado farming before settling in Victoria in 2014.
Now, in the serene surroundings of Staghorn Flat, Wilf basks in the joy of retirement.

Meet Alan Mills, the husband Pam's been stuck with for 44 years. He's the proud father of three kids and six grandchildren scattered across Australia, probably hiding from him. Moved to Wodonga in 1994, where he promptly joined the local golf club. Spent 23 years with ANZ, then threw caution to the wind with a Lotto Business for 7 years, because who doesn't love a good scratchie? Finished off his career as a Mortgage Broker for 17 years, making sure everyone's home loan was exciting. Enjoys Rock n Roll Dancing, Woodworking, and pretending to be good at golf. Long-time member of the Shed, where the shed happens to be his second home.

Meet Gordon Nicholls, the 78-year-old family man with a whopping three kids, nine grandkids and six great-grandkids - no wonder he's always on the go. For 25 years, Gordon and his crew called Yack home, but three years ago they made the big move to Wodonga. A shed member since 2011, Gordon's had a blast. By day, he was a top-notch Stock and Station Agent and Real Estate Agent. And in his free time (what little he has), Gordon loves getting his adrenaline pumping with Motor Sports, Squash, Bowls and Golf.

Meet Ron Boulton, Yackandandah's finest 73-year-old gent. Married with two kids, because one wasn't enough. His resume is a wild ride - banker, fish salesman, and trading store operator. He joined the shed crew in 2012. When not causing chaos, Ron enjoys bowls, bush walking, and, you guessed it, the shed.

Met Colin Nelder (86), married to Helen. He has been living in Yack since 1968 and enjoys a lovely 70-acre property just outside town. He is the proud father of three grown kids: Megan, Dale, and Lachlan. Colin has been part of our community since 2011 and is affectionately known as our King Of Kindling. By profession, he's a plumber. Although he used to be an avid tennis and golf player, he's now happily moved on from his best years on the court.
