This year’s theme: By the Bay

This year, the Bayside Business and Community Awards are celebrating everything that makes our corner of Brisbane so special with our gala theme, By the Bay.

By the Bay is about more than where we live. It’s about the lifestyle we share, the businesses we support, the community groups that bring people together and the incredible individuals who help make Brisbane’s Bayside such a vibrant place to live, work, visit and belong.

It’s morning walks along the waterfront, weekends on the water, bustling village centres, local cafés and restaurants, community events, sporting clubs, volunteers, small businesses and neighbours looking out for one another.

Most importantly, By the Bay is about our community.

So when we come together for this year’s Gala Dinner, we want the evening to feel unmistakably Bayside - relaxed, colourful, celebratory and just a little bit glamorous.

What do you wear By the Bay?

Have some fun with it!

Think Bayside glamour rather than traditional black tie.

Take inspiration from the colours, atmosphere and lifestyle of the bay — ocean blues, sea greens, sunset golds, coral, crisp whites, sandy neutrals and tropical splashes of colour.

You might choose:
• A flowing summer or cocktail dress
• Linen jackets, open-collar shirts or relaxed tailoring
• Bold coastal colours
• Nautical touches
• Tropical prints
• Elegant resort-style fashion
• A splash of gold inspired by a Bayside sunset
• Or simply your own interpretation of what By the Bay means to you.

There are no hard and fast rules. Dress up, have fun and bring a little bit of the Bayside with you.

The Bayside Business and Community Awards nominations process is now live.

This year we have made the following changes to the awards process

We have added a new category called
Best Not-For-Profit Social or Sporting Club

and moved Best Pest Services into Best Professional Services.

We have also decided to include a panel and public vote combination to select the Winner of The Bayside Business of the Year.

Our Community, Our Future, Our Fund

The Bayside Community Fund has adopted a new slogan - Our Community, Our Future, Our Fund - to better reflect who we are, what we stand for and the role we want the Fund to play in the future of Brisbane’s Bayside.

At the heart of the new language is one powerful word: Our.

The Bayside Community Fund is not simply a fund for the community. It is a fund owned by the community, guided by the community and shaped in consultation with the community.

Our Community reflects the people who live, work, volunteer, operate businesses, raise families and contribute every day to making the Bayside a special place to call home. The Fund exists to strengthen that community and to support the organisations, initiatives and people who help it thrive.

Our Future recognises that the future of the Bayside is something we all have a role in creating. Everyone can contribute not only financially, but through their time, experience, ideas, networks, energy and vision. Every contribution has the potential to help build a stronger, more connected and more resilient community for generations to come.

Our Fund reinforces the idea that the Bayside Community Fund is a permanent community asset. It is being built collectively, with contributions invested to grow over time so that the benefits can continue flowing back into the Bayside community year after year.
Importantly, this is not a fund where decisions about the community are made in isolation. We want to listen, consult and engage with our community to understand where support is needed, where opportunities exist and how the Fund can make the greatest long-term difference.

The change from Lasting Legacy to Our Community, Our Future, Our Fund represents an important evolution in how we talk about the Fund. A lasting legacy remains an important outcome of what we are building, but our new language is more inclusive, more participatory and more representative of our purpose.

It moves the conversation from what one person may leave behind to what an entire community can build together.

Whether someone contributes financially, volunteers their time, shares their expertise, introduces a community partner or simply brings forward an idea, everyone has the opportunity to play a part.

Because ultimately, the Bayside Community Fund belongs to all of us.

It is our community.
It is our future.
And it is our fund.
