Wyndham Vale parkrun

Wyndham Vale parkrun Wyndham Vale parkrun is a free, timed, 5km run/walk put on by the community for the community at 8am Wyndham Vale parkrun launched on 20 February 2016.

parkrun is not a race against other runners, but a 5km timed run, jog or walk. It can really be whatever you want it to be, whether that's for fun or as part of a training plan. Wyndham Vale parkrun offers an opportunity for all members of our local community, male or female, young or old, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy our beautiful Werribee River trail and get physically active in

the process. We want to encourage people to walk, jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is FREE! Taking part is easy – just register in advance by 6pm on the Friday before your first ever parkrun event. The great thing is that you only ever need to do this once! Then just set your alarm for Saturday morning and get yourself there!

Wyndham Vale parkrun Event # 474 - 06/06/2026

Morning everyone and well done to the amazing 188 people who made their way around the Wyndham Vale course today. Conditions were perfect for those that ran but maybe a little chilly if you walked today.

As always, the event was free, volunteer-led, and open to everyone. We had 28 first timers to Wyndham Vale including tourists from Point Cook, Castlemaine, Inverloch, Diamond Creek, Marriott Waters, Newborough, Cowra, Point Hut Pond (ACT) and Liverpool, UK. We had 28 people set a new course PB including our first place finisher (who was also a first timer). Well done!

We celebrated the 400th parkrun of John Smith. Congrats on completing your milestone parkrun. It was also great to acknowledge the 60th Wedding Anniversary of Alf and Denise Frith with special thanks to Alf for taking our photos today.

Thank you so much to the amazing volunteers today: Daryl Smith, Tim Parker, Ash Wembridge, Vicki Smith, Josh Young, Liam Parker, Jess Korteman, Penny Parker, Lorraine Beasley, Martin Wischer, John Smith, Percy Wright, Tris Waters and Alf Frith. We have a wonderful community of volunteers who ensure that our parkrun happens every week. Thank you

🐾🐕 Barkrunners: Just a friendly reminder that all dogs at parkrun events are to be on a short, hand-held, non-extendable lead, to the side of their handler, and within arms reach. 🐕🐾

❌ Waist harnesses and extendable leads are no longer permitted ❌

❗️This is a parkrun Global requirement❗️

🌟 KIDS AT PARKRUN 🌟 We love to see children at parkrun!🤩 to keep everyone safe, here's a few tips:

✅ Children under 11 must be within arm's reach of a parent, guardian at all times
✅ Prams are welcome. Please take care of other runners around you.
✅ Children must be aged 4 and over to register and obtain their own barcode
✅ Juniors must be able to complete the course themselves to have their barcode scanned

⛔️ Running while carrying a child of any age (whether in a front or back baby carrier/harness, in your arms, on your shoulders or piggyback) is not permitted.

So please do join us with your children and don’t forget to bring their barcode which is their passport to all parkrun events and help them get to junior parkrun and volunteer milestones🤩

Happy parkrunning! 🏃‍♀️❤️🌳

We are so lucky to have so many amazing volunteers at Wyndham Vale parkrun, it's exciting to say that we have filled all volunteers roles this weekend.

So instead of the usual volunteer call out post, we wanted to say a big THANK YOU to our volunteers, you are what makes Wyndham Vale parkrun run so smoothly each week. From those who pitch in to help set up the event at the start, to those filling volunteer roles for the day, and especially those around to help pack up at the end of the event.

If you want to see what volunteer roles are available over the coming weeks, please click on the following link and email [email protected] with your parkrun ID and the volunteer role you are interested in.

A big shout out also to Louise Boyd who celebrated her 50th volunteer milestone last week!

And finally, it was great to see a number of parkrunners wearing the big freeze beanies! This weekend is the big freeze number 12, a somewhat sad event with the passing of Neal Daniher, but a reminder of a different kind of volunteer that he was, with his 13 year campaign to find a cure for the beast.

Thank you for volunteering!

Bonus stat of the week - this week, we had 180 finishers for Event #473.

That might seem familiar, because we also had 180 finishers for Event #472.

Now, I'm not sure if it's me, but I'm getting a fierce sence of deja vu...
