Another great day to be out in the Reserve. Some before and afters from the working bee.

We try to stand in the same spot for these photos. We dont always get it quite right. Perhaps we should try using better markers than sticks that we move!

🐦 Bird baths and H5 bird flu: Know what to do

You don’t need to remove your bird bath, but simple steps can help support local birdlife while reducing disease risks.

Bird baths can bring different birds together, creating opportunities for infection to spread through contaminated water, droppings or feathers.

Help reduce disease risks by:

💧 Refreshing the water frequently

🧽 Regularly cleaning and disinfecting your bird bath

🧼 Washing your hands after cleaning

🐕 Keeping pets away from bird baths and other places where wildlife gathers

🐦 Avoiding feeding wild birds, which can encourage large numbers and different species to gather.

Support local birdlife with clean water, healthy habitat and plenty of opportunities to forage naturally.

If you see sick or dead birds or other wildlife:

Who's been seen in the Reserve this week?

Another lovely Swamp Wallaby (Wallabia bicolor), a hungry Satin Bowerbird (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus), a dastardly fox (Vulpes vulpes), and a checky Eastern Grey Kangaroo (Macropus giganteus).

Such an adorable Swamp Wallaby (Wallabia bicolor) and joey. The joey will stay in the pouch for around 8-9 months. Once out it will continue to suckle until it's about 15 months old.

Swamp Wallabies tend to be solitary and don't gather in large mobs like the Eastern Grey Kangaroos (Macropus giganteus). They are also alot shyer so they are much harder to come across in the Reserve. We're very fortunate to capture these two on camera.
