🔔 A BIG WELCOME to our incoming TCPAiR Resident - artist Jelly Green. We are super excited to host Jelly supported by an established partnership between MESSUMS|ORG and The Corridor Project. We look forward to sharing the beauty of the Central West NSW, Wiradjuri country, Australia, including visits to exceptional regional galleries, introductions to Austalian Artists and studios + Jelly on TCPAiR 🌱

About….Jelly Green is a contemporary British-New Zealand painter. Her work is defined by her passion for the natural world. Having spent extended periods immersed in the global web of jungles and rainforests from Brazil to Borneo and Sri Lanka to New Zealand, Green’s large-scale works revel in the magnificent primordial canopies, while unflinchingly bearing witness to the brutal decapitation and destruction of the arboreal world. Her most recent work is focussed on the wildfires that threaten many of the earth’s forests: the paintings capturing the savage, elemental forces unleashed at the critical moment when the fire takes hold.

Please and sign this very important Petition ….. Protect the Future: Say NO to the Draft Building Bill 2024, Say NO to the Repeal of the Architects Act 2003 by the Minns Government.

To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly,

We, the undersigned NSW citizens, strongly oppose the draft Building Bill 2024. It diminishes decades of established architectural-standards and independence by repealing the Architects Act. It introduces an unrestricted licence for building designers to practice across all building classes, blurring the distinction with architects, thereby risking public safety and devaluing qualifications.

The Architects Act is essential for maintaining professional standards. It ensures individuals who successfully complete the required education, experience, and examinations are recognised as competent to work across all building classes as registered architects. Allowing building designers to operate without the same qualifications undermines architectural registration, expertise, professionalism, and credibility.

Building designers have a path to practice across all building classes by becoming registered architects. Existing registration pathways through the Architects Registration Board (NSWARB) are open to all who meet its high standards.

We request the Legislative Assembly to call on Government to:

MAINTAIN Architects Act 2003 in its current form under NSWARB.

ESTABLISH separate Acts to independently regulate building designers, interior designers, engineers, certifiers and associated professions, ensuring profession-specific oversight across the building sector.

ESTABLISH “Scope of Permitted Works Matrix” outlining building classes and complexities each profession is qualified and accredited to undertake.

EMBED the matrix in Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021, Local-Environmental-Plans and National Construction Code for clear public distinction.

These actions maintain clear professional boundaries, strengthen public trust and uphold standards expected in our communities. We must prioritise public safety and design quality over short-sighted deregulation.

WHAT A WEEK AT THE NGA FOR WDA! 🐾🌍
As invited curators for the Wildlife Disease Association [WDA] international conference “Reflect, Listen, Respect: A Transformative Event for Wildlife Health, One Health, and Conservation”, we were thrilled to collaborate with the brilliant WDA team, led by Dr. Andrew Peters.

Our brief? To coordinate an interpretive science-focused exhibition in the stunning Gandel Hall and James Fairfax Theatre. Breaking away from the traditional conference model, global veterinarians and wildlife advocates expressed their research through storytelling and the arts, with extraordinary results! The exhibition featured video works, installations, sculptures, paintings, animations, and ceramics, all showcasing the synergy between art, science, and conservation. 🌱

🛎️Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing snippets of the event, including the incredible artworks and groundbreaking research by superstar vets and wildlife workers, true champions of wildlife health.

✨ Featured Artist Spotlight: Tabitha Page
Title: Emerging Bacterial Diseases in Alaska’s Small Mammals…..

Tabitha’s interactive installation explores the role of small mammals, particularly voles, in complex disease cycles. Using crochet, she created a stunning representation of Alaska’s boreal forests, complete with black and white spruce, Arctic roses, and voles. Each vole, when picked up, reveals details about their status as potential reservoirs for Leptospira spp. and Bartonella spp. emphasising the pivotal role small mammals play in ecosystems. 🧶🐾

A huge shoutout to the dream team and collaborators that made the exhibition possible:
