The Ormeau Girl Guides demonstrated remarkable spirit by hiking through the rain to participate in the morning ANZAC Day Service at the Ormeau Pimpama War Memorial Association Inc. The weather may have been challenging, but the service was both meaningful and memorable, with heartfelt gratitude expressed to everyone who contributed.

Five girls proudly showcased their versatility by carrying the World Flag during the walk to the service. They also managed the main flag during the ANZAC Services, laying wreaths that enhanced the significance of the occasion.

Yesterday was World Thinking Day

Sunday, 22 February 2026.

The World Thinking Day 2026 theme is "Our Friendship," celebrating 100 years of global sisterhood and bonds within Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting.

World Thinking Day, formerly Thinking Day, is celebrated annually on 22 February by all Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. It is also celebrated by Scout and Guide organisations around the world. It is a day when they think about their "sisters" (and "brothers") in all the countries of the world, the meaning of Guiding, and its global impact.

Most recently, World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts has selected an important international issue as the theme for each year's World Thinking Day, and selected a focus country from each of their five world regions. Girl Guides and Girl Scouts use these as an opportunity to study and appreciate other countries and cultures, and equally increase awareness and sensitivity on global concerns. Donations are collected for the Thinking Day Fund, which supports projects to help Girl Guides and Scouts around the world.

22 February was chosen as it was the birthday of Scouting and Guiding founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell and of Lady Olave Baden-Powell, his wife and World Chief Guide. Other Scouts celebrate it as B.-P. Day or Founders' Day.

Community Services with a Difference, 20th December 2025

On the 20th of December 2025, some of the Rangers from Ormeau Girls had the wonderful opportunity to dress up as Bluey, Mickey, and Minnie Mouse. Meanwhile, a talented group of girls from Coomera took the stage to perform a selection of Christmas songs. Their efforts brought smiles to the faces of both children and adults at the Yarrabilba Christmas and Carols event.

In May and November 2025, we embarked on an inspiring journey with 12 Baskets Outreach by engaging in three meaningful community service projects.

Through thoughtful communication, we identified their needs and set out to create no-sew blankets and beanies, while also organising a food drive to support those in need during the cooler months.

Our Rangers had the incredible opportunity to participate in one of their events, where we distributed these cozy creations alongside hot meals to those on the streets. The community's response was nothing short of breathtaking, filled with heartfelt praise and gratitude.

As November rolled around, we crafted 100 delightful reindeer gifts, each containing a bar of soap and a face cloth. The team at 12 Baskets Outreach was thrilled to receive these gifts and invited us to join them once again for a community outreach event on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Community service is a fundamental aspect of the Girls Promise and Law, and we are dedicated to reaching out and supporting various initiatives throughout the year.

Our older girls especially enjoy volunteering at local Bunnings family nights and assisting with our fundraiser BBQs.

Together, we are making a difference and spreading joy in our community!

We're excited to participate in more community service projects in 2026! Let’s come together to make a positive impact and create lasting change in our community.

A small group of dedicated girls and leaders from Ormeau Girl Guides and Coomera Girl Guides attended the Bethania Community Centre to support the Kids4Kids Foundation. In alignment with our commitment to community service and our principles, Promise and Law. We are proud to help those in need.

Kids4Kids Foundation is a wonderful charity that provides free school supplies to students who require assistance. We believe that every child deserves to begin their school journey with pride, preparedness, and the essential tools for success.

Hello, all Teddy Bears Participants,

To our sponsors, stall holders, food vendors, members, and supporters we regret to inform you that because of the storm rain last night and following an inspection of the Norfolk Village School oval this morning that we are unable to use the ground without damage to it. Therefore, we are proposing to postpone the Teddy Bears Picnic to a date possibly in the first quarter of 2026 and with other venues being considered which may not be as vulnerable to wet weather restrictions.

We apologise for this late inconvenience and disappointment, but it is out of our hands and hope that you will continue to support us in the future. When a new time and location has been considered and agreed upon, we will be in contact with you.

If you have any questions, please email us to, [email protected]
