We had the pleasure of having two special guests at our General Meeting this morning, the 1st VDG Alex Coates and Diane Howarth from RSU, (Rebuilding Schools Ukraine).

We listened to a detailed ppt presentation by Diane on how funds are being utilised in the rebuilding of classrooms bombed in the war zone and following that, presented Diane with a cheque for $1,000 towards the charity's efforts in Ukraine.

We also had an in depth talk by 1st Vice District Governor Alex Coates on the goals and aspirations of District Governor Ray Najar and his own when he takes over the reigns next year. President Patrick Ryan accepted a banner and a pin from Alex after his talk.

The Charles Sturt Lions Club, contributed both design expertise and funding to install a new bird bath at MJ McInerney Reserve in West Croydon.
For many years, an elderly resident had placed a box of water out for the birds but was no longer able to continue due to age.
In response, we worked with the Charles Sturt Council to create a new solution: a bird bath with a mains water supply and automatic timer, ensuring it refills several times a day. This initiative not only provides a reliable water source for local wildlife but also reflects our ongoing commitment to serving the community.

On Friday 8th August 2025 Western Adelaide Domestic Violence service and staff celebrated the opening ceremony of the upgraded Children's Room. This project was funded by Variety SA and came together due to the extensive volunteer work by local support groups Lions Club of Charles Sturt and Rotary Club Regency Park.
Thankful to the local community for their generosity both in time and monetary. Without them this project would not have come into fruition!

Another good General Meeting this morning with a twist. As many of our members have external commitments which would have affected their availability for today's meeting we decided to try something different. We had a lovely zoom meeting thanks to our Secretary Mark Daker for organising it.

Business successfully transacted and an opportunity for everyone to participate.
