The Journeyman Tour with Brian J Cano is taking shape for Spooky Springtime 2026 with Investigations, Paranormal Parlours, live events and some pretty great collaborations brewing across NSW & Victoria.

The Oscars have come and gone, and whether you follow them closely or not, its was a good night for Gothic Storytelling & Horror on the Big Screen.

🍿Amy Madigan taking home the best supporting actress for Weapons and her portrayal as Aunt Gladys. Icon material.

🍿Frankenstein took home Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Production Design. I've not watched this year, maybe this week will need to give it a peak.

🍿Sinners. Rightfully so Michael B. Jordan took home best actor and Ryan Coogler for Best Original Screenplay. The film also collected Best Original Score and Best Cinematography.

🍿KPop Demon Hunters took home Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song
with “Golden". I've also not yet seen this but it's on the list.

Regarding that best original song, I do think “I Lied to You,” Sinners should have won that because wow what a song but I will wait until I've seen Kpop Demon Hunters before I argue the point.

This also feels like the best time to share I'm keen on checking out the Dracula the Ballet later this year in both Sydney and Melbourne. We love all forms of Spooky & Gritty storytelling right?

Friday the 13th in February is a confusing little minx of a day.

Do I lean into spooky?
Or embrace Galentine’s energy like a proud disciple of Parks and Recreation?

And then I remembered my forever 90s fave!

The Craft.

It’s got everything.
Friendship. Sisterhood. Crushes. Teen angst. Girls supporting girls.

And also… psychological warfare.
Hexing ex-boyfriends.
Summoning ancient powers.
Attempted murder.
Actual murder.
The casual invocation of dark forces before homeroom.

Honestly? Female bonding but make it infernal.

Tonight we’re lighting candles, calling the corners… and keeping our love life cursed.

Here are some ideas from my travel aspirations!

Old Dubbo Gaol - Its been on my list for ages and maybe 2026 is the year. Make it a weekend away and explore the Central West.

Berry, South Coast NSW - I adore Berry and spend a lot of time locally there. Its a great Historic town with lots to explore. Add a stop at Shambalaa Tribe Berry And Kiama and sip some wine at the historic Coolangatta Estate.

Q Station Manly Here you can tick a box, spooky escape, ghost tours, history tours. Go for a day trip or stay the night and enjoy the stunning views and curious history.

Spooky Gift Ideas - History Tours

History focused tours are great for the spooky and curious alike. For Spooky people it captures the imagination and sits well with their love of ghost stories. For the curious is a great way to explore something new without committing to a ghost tour.

Some recommendations from me to y'all

Melbourne Historical Crime Tours - I went on one of these tours a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. Maybe you're based in Victoria or have a trip planned you might like the spice up.

Cockatoo Island, Sydney Harbour - this is on my Sydney bucket list and now it's on yours. They offer a range of tours and I just think it would be a fascinating visit

Old Melbourne Gaol - This post has turned into a very Melbourne forward post but I had to include Old Melbourne Gaol. I try and visit every time I am in Melbourne as I always discover something new.
