What should I expect at Convention?
The best week of your life with 5 massive social nights, an insane range of genuinely fascinating academic events across all different areas of Medicine, a chance to meet 1000+ med students and leading doctors from across the country, field trips around Sydney and your chance to have fun repping UoW in sports, academics, debating, emergency medicine challenge, skulling, 3 minute thesis and much more!
Is Con worth it?
100% (ask everyone who’s been for the last 66 years and they’ll tell you whole-heartedly that it is the ultimate med student experience like no other and so worth it). Tickets this year are the cheapest they’ve ever been with the whole week including all socials, academics, workshops, field trips around Sydney, a fancy gala ball with food and unlim drinks, all 3 meals provided every day and so much more for $520 for the week. It’s insanely good value for the best week of your life 😍
Why is this year the perfect year to go?
So many reasons. There’s gonna be record attendance at the biggest Convention in its 66 year history. It’s in the most iconic city of Australia. It’s gonna be huge and you'd be crazy to miss it 🥳
How do I get my tickets?
Set your alarms for 7pm on Friday 4th April and race to get your tickets through the link that will be dropped on our event page (make sure you hit going to stay notified). Dates? Am I sweet to go during term?
Absolutely! It’s mainly over the weekend, so you’ll only miss a couple uni days, and Faculty encourages students to go for a mid-term break to learn, network and rep UoW Med (just like how they encourage you to attend any conference)
Convention goes from July 2-6, and you’ll want to arrive in Sydney by midday on July 2 and depart early on the morning of July 7. Faculty all went to Convention back in the day and know it’s an important part of the student experience to expand your perspective on Medicine, meet fellow students and doctors and rep UoW Med on a national level
Accommodation? What are the nightly UoW Med pre-social gatherings?
We’ll all be staying together at Mercure Sydney where our rooms will be grouped by university, and is an extra option to select when registering.
Every night all of UoW Med comes together for a big pres/party with some traditions and secret activities before we head out to the huge social. It’s gonna be epic - accom is available at the same time as Con rego and will sell out fast so get in quick! ⏰
What if I don’t drink?
That’s absolutely fine (in fact even better)! Hundreds of Con delegates don’t drink and have an amazing time. Con is primarily a conference and an opportunity to learn, network and have fun however you like! 🥰
What if I’m coming solo?
That's fantastic! Con is the best way to meet and get close with more UoW Meddies. Shoot me a message and you’ll get grouped up with similar UoW Meddies for accom and activities ☺️
