Cancer Council Southern NSW

Cancer Council Southern NSW We are an independent and forward-thinking community of people, where ideas and charity come togethe

At Cancer Council NSW, we believe that the enormous capability residing in communities can be unlocked to create a cancer free future. The greatest impact can be achieved by treating cancer as a social issue rather than purely as a health issue. The incidence of cancer in our community is extensive, with more than 36,000 new cases of cancer expected to be diagnosed in NSW each year and tragically,

13,227 cancer deaths in NSW annually. Witnessing the human cost of cancer unites our staff, volunteers, donors and communities all over NSW. The good news is that the rate of survival from cancer has increased substantially over the past 25 years and Cancer Council NSW has been a key agent for critical shifts in cancer control which have contributed to this fall in cancer death rates. However, there remain a significant number of high-mortality cancers and we are strongly committed to researching and working towards a cancer free future. Our vision will be realised when lives are not cut short by cancer nor their quality of life diminished.
