Yesterday was International Overdose Awareness Day.

Have you heard of Naloxone?

Naloxone is a safe, life-saving medication that temporarily reverses opioid overdoses. There are different administration types, including:
💜 Injectables
💜Nasal spray

You can find it at your local pharmacies, needle and syringe programs, alcohol and other drugs treatment centers, custodial release programs, and the new purple vending machines that are being released across Victoria, like the one at Gateway Health Wangaratta! 💜

“Living so rurally, and attending a private school, it was tough. I felt isolated and had no clue if I was the only one among my peers apart of the community.

However, as ‘Wear it Purple’ started to climb in recognition, I started to find those among my classmates who were experiencing similar journeys to my own.

‘Wear it Purple’ became a day to my friends and I, where we felt seen and acknowledged. It helped us understand that no matter the backlash we may have received, we were valid and supported.”

These were words shared by a young q***r community member at this year’s Wear it Purple Morning Tea event, hosted by AlburyCity & the NEST program.

We thank everyone who attended and showed support for our local LGBTQIASB+ community 💜

Wear it Purple Day started as a grassroots movement to show LGBTQIASB+ young people that they have the right to feel safe, supported, and proud of who they are.
For the past 16 years, organisations, schools, and communities around Australia have come together to the recognise this date.

Whilst a lot has changed in those years, young LGBTQIASB+ people still experience bullying and discrimination. This is why it is still important to recognise this date and continue showing support and allyship where we can.

This years theme is "Colours of Courage", recognising the strength it takes to push for change. This strength comes from sharing the emotional load together as LGBTQIASB+ people and allies to the community. 💜💜💜

🏃‍♀️ Are you ready for the Endless 24Hr Challenge?

Fitness4U Yackandandah is bringing the community together for 24 hours of non-stop movement in support of headspace and local youth mental health. 🧠

Participants can choose a one-hour timeslot and help keep a treadmill, rower or SkiErg moving at whatever pace feels right for them. You don’t need to be an athlete; you just need to be willing to get involved! 🏋️‍♀️

There’ll also be live music, DJs, free classes, mini massages and plenty of fun throughout the event. 🎵

A huge thank you to Rory Carlyle, Fitness4U and the Yackandandah community for supporting young people and helping raise awareness of the importance of looking after our mental health. 💚
